Hi Moms! We are planning on going to Disney in July/August and I don't know where to start. We have two girls that will be 6 and 3 at the time we go. Any advice/suggestions/tips on where to stay, eat, can't miss attractions, etc. would be VERY helpful. Thanks in advance for your help =)

What can I do next?

The best advice I can give is stay at a Disney resort in the park. They are wonderful..You get transportation to all the parks. Go to the disney site and look at all the different parks, they have different price levels, they r all great.Buy what r called park hopper passes for the days u will be there those get u in to any of the parks..Even travel with disney is easy they take care of your bags once u get to the airport and they transport u to ur resort by buss. It will be great dont stress u will have the time of ur life..

Tami, Be prepared for the weather to be very-very hot and possibly rainy. I wouldn't suggest going this time of year because the heat is uncomfortable for not only adults but small children, unless you like the heat. Disney World is also more crowded during this time of year. There will be windows throughout the day where it will down pour (rain) and then be sunny a few minutes later (so bring rain gear). I would recommend sticking to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom with small children and staying near these parks so if you want to go back to the hotel to cool off or swim you are close by. Eating in the parks can be expensive so I would suggest packing a small back-pack that is easy to carry with juice boxes, water and snacks. We took our 6 year old twins to Disney World in June and it was hot. All they wanted to do was go back to the hotel and swim. Getting to the parks early (when they opened) was the best because it wasn't as hot. My twins are almost 12 now and we just came back from Disney World. The weather was perfect!! And the parks weren't as crowded. In summary, I would keep in mind the time of year you travel there. The summer months are very-hot and there could be lots of crowds. Good Luck and have fun!!!

We just got back from a very spur of the moment trip. Had a great time with three young boys; 13 months, 2 1/2, and 4 1/2. We stayed on property at Carribean Beach Resort. I really think my kids would have been happy to just stick around the beach area. I read up a lot in the offical Disney guide. If you go to the Disney website there is a link on there somewhere..maybe first go to plan vacation, then by discussion forum or maybe it is called disney moms. You can find out a lot of info. For us, we just went in with no particular plans and managed the whole week with no meltdowns. We added on the quick service meal plan. We felt it was a pretty good deal.

Definitly stay on site if you can. But go for one of the value resorts. your little ones will love them. we have stayed at all of the so called cheapie ones., all star sports, music, movies and the pop century one. we like the pop century one the best. they have great food courts for breakfast and later dinners, the pools are literally right outside your door. downside is they can be a little loud in the daytime but hey your going to be in the park in the daytime so who cares. make your reservations for dinners now. or yesterday lol. if you want to do the cinderella's castle meal you need to make it way in advance. my daughter and her hubby went in january and were told it was booked for weeks and sometimes months in advance. you can get lucky and grab a spot someone missed but not worth chancing with little girls 3 and 6. we loved the character breakfast at the animal kingdom better than any others we have had. food is really good at the crystal palace. also really good at tony's (its on mainstreet square right as you come into the magic kingdom. kids loved it. go early, stop mid day for a break and a nap and then go back later in the evening. let the kids have a nap or a swim time and relax and then go back. always take the train around magic kingdom first in the day and then again right before you leave. gives a wind down time before heading to the car or bus. the boat ride at norway in epcot was a huge hit. the germany buffet is great for kids. has entertainment going on and has food they will really eat. skip the mexican resteraunt. it is very dimly lit with crappy waiters. food is very expensive and not really great. unless they are huge starwars fans skip the indiana jones thing. it is loud and probably not a great thing for little ones. we had breakfast at the hotel every day and took pbj sandwiches with us. the kids ate them as we went. we went back to the hotel for about an hour or hour and a half every day. when we went back to the park we had a big meal and then went from there. there is no such thing as a time when the food places were not full. they are always full. but a little less at 3 or 4pm than at noon or 6pm. hope you have a wonderful trip.
