Hi,
I am looking for a peditrician who will allow me to delay the vaccinations for my newborn or who will accept my decision on not getting my baby vaccinated at all. Does anyone know a good one in the San Diego area?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

GREAT! I have a child with autism because of the overload of vaccinations. Yes, they will accept the child at school but you must do a lot of legal research. You may pose the question on the autism-moms boards. they know everything from biomedical to pediatricians, etc. I wish all moms were as smart as you!

Depending on where in San Diego, Dr Lynn Scannell is fantastic and will work with you for delayed or no vax. Also check out SDNF yahoo group or Dr Sears vaccine book webpage, there is a list of drs.

Well, I hope you plan on homeschooling for the whole duration, because no schools will accept a non-vaccinated child. Your child may also catch a deadly disease and spread it around. Good luck with your decision.

I respect your decision to not vaccinate, but think of the harm you are doing to your child to not protect her from potentially deadly diseases. It is also selfish for you to rely on other parents vaccinating their children so that your child is safe from outbreaks. Do you remember a recent outbreak in La Jolla of the Measles...brought back from Europe from a child who was unvaccinated. It threatened any child who was unvaccinated including many infants who had not yet turned one. Those parents decision to not vaccinate put thousands of children at risk. We live in a society where vaccinations and medicine are readily available for your child, which is a luxury and you should consider taking advantage of it. I too did my reserach during my entire pregnancy and was terrified of vaccinations, but know that it is the responsible thing to do morally and healthwise.

I am not a fan of kaiser in particular, but at least they have allowed me to delay vaccines and stagger 1 year shots, since there were so many needed. I do want my daughter to have the vaccines, but not the "cocktails" which seem to be the concern around autism. It's a hard decision, I know. You just have to be on top of it and make sure you know what your child has had and what they still need if you spread them out. Good luck

I love our pediatrician, Dr. Theresa O'Dea at Children's Primary 858/457-2043. Very easy to talk to and understanding, just explain upfront your ideas.

I don't know of any, but I wanted to praise you for making a super choice. I didn't want to vaccinate my son 8 years ago. He was born at a birthing center and then at 3 months I took him in. The Dr. understood my concerns and said that she had friends that rejected them as well, but she felt that I really needed to give him a choice few. I submitted and he started having petite seizures. I did not connect them to the shots until he was over 1 and after a long delay I took him in and they gave him more. The seizures started again. No more shots in our family. My daughter is six and has not been immunized. We go to Children's in El Cajon. They always ask me, and I say we don't immunize. I don't care what people think. God gave these children to me. They are in my care and I am not trusting someone else with their health. That first Dr. has never called us or checked in or wondered about my son. If he would of had severe injury or lifetime problems she would not even know. It does not affect her life. There is no consequences if she makes a mistake.

God Bless you!!

J.
