Does anyone have a recommendation for a pediatric dentist in Avon/west Indy? My 2 1/2 year old is very shy around new people so I need to find someone who is very gentle and kid-friendly.

My kids go to Dr. Thompson at Pediactric Dentistry West on 10th Street, just east of Raceway Road (next to Tyler Mason salon). Their number is ###-###-####. This is the second ped. dentist I have had and I love this office so much better than the first!
Ditto Karen's answer. They are great there, very kid friendly. My younger daughter, now 19, was very scared of dentists after a bad time at a regular dentist. She went there, and after a couple of visits to allow her to get used to it, she was fine.
Good luck. Most importantly is to ease him into it. They are used to doing this.

I have to ditto about Dr. Mark Kahn. I drove all the way from the Southwest side of Indy (Camby) to him because my son had a horrible fear of the dentist and wouldn't get xrays (actually bit his dentist). He got them no problem and first visit. I actually have 5 kids and now my 3 year goes to him and I LOVE him. I love the office (super kid friendly) They let the kids play with gameboys while getting work done. The waiting area is for kids. I honestly love him.
Try Dr. Mark Kahn in Speedway. He's incredible and his whole office is designed for kids. It may be a little out of the way but for a child's first dental appointment, he is definitely worth the trip.
