I am in need of a non traditional menu I need something that isn't turkey or seafood. I should have mentioned that first. My husband hates seafood, and doesn't really like turkey. I was thinking like a good roast or something. Anyone have a good pot roast recipe?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I did take mum's idea. Today I bought a honey ham, green beans for my casserole, rolls, broccoli with cheese, new potatoes, and rolls. This is the first thanksgiving I have ever done. I am not sure if we will have some of my husband's friends over or not but if so I will be feeding the four of us if not it will be just my husband and myself. Thanks everyone for their great recipes. I will have to use them since the weather is perfect for them. :)

Allrecipes.com has the recipe for a perfect roast. There's hundreds of them but one is actually called the perfect roast. You can read the reviews of all the folks who tried it. I like to make cranberry rice, myself, as a side dish.

For Christmas consider a standing rib roast.. so easy to make and very good..

Salmon (grill outside or broil/bake), steamed or prepped-ahead asparagus tips (I have a great asparagus salad recipe you can make earlier), some kind of roasted vegetable couscous and lots of little interesting tidbits: dolmas, mixed olives, cubes of good cheeses, (feta, a sharp cheddar or goat's cheeses, cubed), good bread (with butter and olive oil available), baked balsalmic potatoes (cut into wedges, toss with olive oil, a bit of good balsalmic vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper), almonds and whatever else suits your fancy. By the way, if you are making this, can I come over? :) (We are going to the Thanksgiving of Deep Fried Turkey--unless my uncle's heart attack has made him see the light!)

What exactly are you looking for? Foodnetwork.com probably has tons of "non-traditional stuff", you could also probably find things at allrecipes.com I guess I need to know what your definition of non-traditional is? Are you looking for turkey that is cooked differently, are you looking for a different type of stuffing, or are you looking for something that could feel like Thanksgiving, but isn't turkey and stuffing? (like pork and potatoes, or something like that)

You could do a theme like Mexican or Chinese? We did that for Christmas dinner once; everyone made their favourite Chinese dish. It was fun and a little different :)
