Need a Friend!

Hi everyone. I have a 3 year old daughter, and neither of us have any friends in the area...I was hoping to meet some people to chat with, and maybe meet in person at some point. Unfortunately, I have to do it this way because I am painfully shy and have not been able to connect with other moms the "usual" way! Thanks for understanding.

What can I do next?

Feel free to email me at ____@____.com. I have a daughter who will be three in September and I just had my little boy three weeks ago. I try to check my email everyday but once in a while I skip a day. My daughter is actually really shy and does much better one on one than in a big group. When it comes down to it, I think I'm that way as well.

Hi M. N,

I live a bit too far from where you live, but I'm good corresponding through email :)
I was "painfully shy" also and people often misunderstood me because of it. However, I found a way out of it, or I should say my first daughter did it for me. She came out the most social kid, she comes up to other kids and introduces herself, myself and now also her little sister :P

Kids find a wonderful way of communicating easily I think. Then I began to take advantage of the situation, as my daughter introduces herself to other kids, I force to do so myself also to their mothers (usually the ones with the kids).

I don't know if this helps at all. But do know that other mothers at the park may feel the same way you do and most of the time it just takes a little to begin to have a conversation :)

Also, for your daughter, have you tried your local library? or bookstore? they usually have story times. she might enjoy it and its a chance for her to meet other kids.

If you want to write ____@____.com is my email.

Hugs,
M.

I know the feeling of isolation. I am the stay at home mother of three beautiful boys ages 8, 3 and 11 months. Although my day is very busy, I always long for a little grown up talk. Feel free to contact me whenever u need to talk.

Hi, I can sympathize with the lonely problem. I'm not really particularly shy but to be perfectly honest, I don't like people and most parents I've met make me want to scream at them.
They treat having kids as a chore and something to be endured which is an attitude I cannot for the life of me understand. Then they blame society, school, peer preassure and stuff like that when their kids behave like little monsters.
I'm a stay at home mom during the day, I work at a bar at night to help with bills and grocery money so that I CAN be home and take care of my kids and make sure they grow up to be respectful, responsible adults.
Anyway, try downloading AIM or somethin like that so you can at least chat with ppl online. I know there's a couple of homeschool groups in your area, try hooking up with one of them, even if you don't plan on homeschooling, most of them would be happy to have you there.
Hope you find some new friends

Good Morning!
What city/state do you live in? This may help other moms let you know of any mom groups that are going on in your town. I have 2 boys ages 3&5. If you live near us we may be able to set someting up for the kids and us to do together. My boys have a lot of friends that are girls so it wouldn't be uncomfortable for them to interact with your daughter.
