My sweet baby girl has some serious skin folds, and as she's quite the spitter upper all day long, she gets the milk stuck in her skin folds. I try to be as diligent as I can with cleaning them out, but she's really got a red, inflamed neck fold right now. I don't know what I can put on it to help soothe it and get rid of it and help soothe it. Any recommendations?
My granddaughter had so many rolls my daughter had to blow dry her after her bath (doctor recommended) (Not hot). Maybe you can incorporate that for drying instead of more rubbing to dry. She's probably sore, it may be soothing.
My youngest had that...it was sooo gross. I would wash them out with a wet cloth and then once dry, put vaseline on them. Worked perfectly.

Put some Vaseline on her neck BEFORE she eats. It'll minimize how irritated her skin gets. Then put something soothing on AFTER you clean her. Good luck, and give her a kiss!
Same thing happened to my daughter! I would not use Aquaphor as it has petroleum in in it - not good for the body. Use Alba's UnPetroleum Jelly (purchase at Whole Foods, Mother's, Henry's or online). What my daughter used to love doing as an infant is putting those soft white, thin "diapers" (the old fashioned kind; we got ours at Babies R Us -- not the thick diapers, the super thin cloths)under her own chin. She had a very short neck and her chin was always resting on it. She figured out that this was comfy and she's loved those "blankies" ever since.
baby powder will definitely help. after i give my daughter a bath, i always spread some baby powder under her neck to help keep those folds dry. try it! hope it works for you.
Make sure it does not get infected... ie: yeast infection in fold of the skin. Or if it gets smelly.
Keep it clean and dry... or take her to the Pediatrician just to make sure, especially since her skin is "inflamed" now and she is a newborn.

I have a miracle cure... use lanolin. The same stuff you use on sore nipples when breast feeding. It not only soothes the red, chapped skin, but will protect it from more moisture. It's 100% natural (if you by the 100% natural kind) and is totally safe, even if ingested. It also works miracles on chapped noses and lips, overnight, with NO pain and because it's really thick, it "sticks" to the affected area much better than things like petroleum products or other lotions.

The same thing happened to my daughter. Her pediatrician recommmened using Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Diaper Rash Cream, it worked! I would also use Vasoline.

I would try an antifungal cream like nystatin.
I've used cornstarch or vaseline. Just clean and dry the area and then apply.
My two month old has the same issue and Aquaphor helped a lot. When he spits up I would wipe it immediately after with a wet baby cloth. Good luck!
I used to rub a little A+D Ointment there with my kids. It's probably just a little irritated from all the rubbing plus all the gunk that gets stuck in it.
My son was the worst. I would have him wear a bib all day long until he was almost 2 just because of the constant drooling and neck folds :).
I used Aquaphor on my kids' neckrolls but if it's really bad, I believe the pediatrician can prescribe something.
Aquaphor will help relieve the irritation and it's safe to use.

50-50 mix of loetrmin (i forget how to spell it) & 0.5% hydrocortisone.
Try putting corn starch in a thin cloth, tying it closed like a bag, and patting it in the folds. I think baby powder is made of corn starch, too.
As if you didn't hear this response enough...CORNSTARCH! ( I haven't read all of your replies so forgive me if I'm repeating). It's talc free and perfume free, which are irritants. Some foods your little one is eating may be a culprit also. don't use soap to bathe her, use Eucerin, Aquaphor or the best one is cetaphil.

My youngest was like that, soaked her shirts non-stop for the 1st 2 yrs of her life. 1st it was spit up, then drool...I eventually just bought 40+(!!) cute bibs--various sizes, colors, sayings & I'd buy more any time I would see them...because she would soak through them so fast, I had to change them all day long!
I would wash her neck & chest with water & then put that thick Eucerin cream on her neck, & then dress her. Once I could keep her neck dry, it got better. But I had to wash bibs everyday, she would go through so many. Once she was old enough to sit up in the tub with her sisters, I give her an oatmeal bath, because she had patches of eczema on her arms, too.
The Mustela diaper rash cream is excellent, especially for sensitive skin. I don't see why you couldn't use it on her neck. Good luck!
Do your best to keep it clean, but like several others, we used Aquaphor (and occasionally, diaper rash cream!). My DD had a red streak across her neck frequently until she was around 6-7 months old (when she started sitting up, eating solids, and nursing less often). Do check with your doctor...if it has a strong odor, they may want to prescribe an anti-fungal cream.
Try aquaphor. It will help create a barrier and it will help soothe the inflamed skin.

When my daughter had that. I used cornstarch in her folds in her neck. I remeber one time it smelled really bad like cheese. That helped her issue and I use it for diaper rash too worked great.
Nearly every time...heat+dark+moisture+sugar (in this case lactose) = yeast infection.
A little bit of lotramin ointment smeared in the creases will take care of the yeast. In this weather, too, you may also be dealing with a bit of chapping. The ointment will also help with the chap if there is any.
During and after:
Keep the area as clean and dry (ha! I know, hard) as possible (we used baby wipes after feeding, and then dries with a blanket/blowing). Avoid adding any more sugar (like baby powder, corn starch is pure sugar... so avoid baby powder, since it's not talcum any more, but corn starch).
After infection clears up:
You can also use a bit of barrier cream (just like on her bum), but it's the dry and sugar free that will help the most.
We used corn starch for a little while. But it wouldn't go away so our pediatrician prescribed her an ointment...you have to be careful because it can become a fungis and get infected.
Use some corn starch, it really helps. Do not use talc!

Hi N., I've used Aquaphor on my babies' exzcema with some success but prepare yourself for the grease stains it leaves on clothes. You might also try Calmoseptine. It's really for bed sores but a nurse told me to use it for diaper rash and it's really good. I hope your little angel feels better, good luck!
