I am looking for nature shows that would be appropriate for my four year old to watch. We have Direct TV and therefore, have A LOT of channels but I am having trouble locating shows of this nature via the search function. I have also looked at Discovery Channel's website with no luck in locating actual titles. Thank in advance.

What can I do next?

I don't know if they still make these, or if they are on dvd, but there's a series called "Amazing Animals" that my little brother and sister used to LOVE. It has a little lizard that meets a bunch of other animals and talks about them. It's cute, but pretty old. We still have them on VHS. : )

Some nature shows are too graphic for my kids.

Wild Kratts on pbs is rated Y.
Wild about Animals is rated G.
Zoboomafoo is rated Y. It is on 295.

Hope this helps!

There is an animated kids show on PBS now called Wild Kratts which is pretty cool - it's educational but makes it fun and easy for kids to understand.

Wild Kratts is all the rage with my daughter, nephews, and all their friends lately! We do not have cable, but Friday mornings on WADL Detroit there is a show called Animal Exploration with Jarod Miller. he has been on Rachael Ray a few times. Also, we have checked out DVD's from the library before. This type is in with the books, rather than the other movies.

We love the Wild Kratts too! They have some games online that my 5 year old likes. Its a fun show, but the "villians" are a little annoying. I don't really know why they are needed - it seems like there is enough conflict and danger in the wild to make it exciting, you know?

My five year old and I LOVE Dirt Girl World, it's not all about animals, also about plants, about living in harmony with nature, gardening, one show was about bees, one was about getting rid of slugs -w/out pesticides of course. she always sings a song It's on PBS

If your 4 year old is into animals than I would try to find ZooLife videos. I have them in the VHS format and am not sure if they ever made them on DVD.

My husband watches Man VS Wild and to our great surprise our two and half hear old daughter sat down and watched the whole thing with him! She doesn't sit through anything! I probably wouldn't recommend that, but it sure made us laugh. Does Jack Hannah still do Wild Adventures? I thought I saw one not to long ago...

I'm not sure if they are still airing episodes but my children realy loved watching Bindi the Jungle Girl. It think it was on the Discovery Kids network but this was a couple of years back so you may have to see if you can get it on DVD now.
