I've tried the diva cup and I have to say OUCH! It was slightly painful to put in and quite painful to get out. But I have other friends who use it and like it.
I've seen these at Healthy Approach & Whole Foods, but they're $27.00 & I'm just just sure I'm wanting to try it at that cost. I tried using a similar item purchased at Target call "instead," if I recall, but b/c my "innards" (ha!) seem to be titled slightly, it always leaked. I love the idea of abandoning tampons forever- esp. w/ organic ones being $7+/ box! http://www.divacup.com/

Divacup is NOTHING like Instead.
I tried Instead first, figuring I would see if they worked for me before I invested in a Divacup. They leaked. They were uncomfortable. They were messy. I still have a full box in my bathroom because I gave up after two tries.
I tried the Divacup anyway since several moms on a board I'm on swore by it. It takes a little getting used to, but now that I'm on my 5th cycle with it I love it. I'll never go back to tampons/pads/etc! Inserting and removing can be tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it it's easy. Mine leaked horriblye the second month - turned out to be user error, I had it inserted incorrectly. I started practicing in the shower till I had it down-pat and I've had no problems since. If you're 'in touch' with your body it's easy to tell when you have a good seal versus when it's not in there right. The more you wear it, the easier it gets.
I wear mine to the pool, the gym, etc and it hasn't leaked other than that one month. I LOVE that I can go all day without having to empty it. Even on my heaviest days I can go 6+ hours. I also love that you sterilize with vinegar, no boiling needed. All around a great product!
I tried it in July, but it was not so easy. I am hoping to try it again on a weekend day, and I have heard great things about it. I keep hearing it gets easier to use once you get used to it. I look forward to the day when I don't have to "change" every 45 minutes on heavy days.
PM me for info on another local moms board where a lot of moms have tried it.
I've been using my Diva Cup for 6 mos. and I LOVE it! I, too have "tilted innards" (I couldn't resist heehee!). I've never used the insted cups, so I can't compare. I agree with pps, It takes a cycle or 2 to get it right for you. You can also cut off the "handle" a little at a time for personal comfort. I feel the DC is pretty cost effective, better for the body, and the environment.
I used this pre-pregnancy and loved it.
I did have a hard time putting it in and getting it out-for me, the trick was NEVER trying to mess with it while I was in a hurry. It leaked once due to user error but after I got the hang of it, it never happened again.
Since I have been pregnant I haven't used it because I just don't want to stick anything "in there".
But I must have saved $50 or $100 over the couple of years I used it. I would say it's a good investment.
