Hello there,
We just found out the house next door will be undergoing a major renovation soon and are very concerned about how our darling 9-month-old little girl is going to nap through that. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Try running a fan in her room during naps and at night, it'll help to soften any sounds that may come from construction. (A humidifier or a sound machine would do the trick too.)
i would suggest that you use a sound machine or radio durung her nap time so that any noise whatsoever would not bother her.
also you could let the phone ring and /or vacuum if you want
I had the same problem when my twins were born. The house next to ours in wash park was getting blown out & a complete 8 month overhaul. I bought a sound machine from Sharper Image & it was the best thing I ever did. I cranked that thing up during the worst times, put sunblock shades on the windows & they would nap for 3 hours both morning & afternoon with no problems. Good luck!
I know it's a little late now, but with our kids we never had the house really quiet while they slept. My first son (he's 2 now) when we first brought him home from the hospital we would talk, watch TV/movies, had people over, and even played video games. He use to sleep through his daddy playing war video games on his computer that had a 4.1 surround sound. Imagen how tanks and grenades sounded! Really big *BOOM*. We did the same thing for our 2nd son. (he's 6 months old now) They sleep through pretty much anything!
Since it is kind of late for that...
Try things like playing music or sounds in her room. You can still try other things too like talking, having people over, letting the phone ring, things like that. It may take a little while for her to get use to it, but it's better if she can get use to sleeping through things. (imo) I mean, you can't control everything, right? No matter how hard we try. lol.
Anyways, hope this helps out. Congrats and good luck! :D
We were constantly renovating our house for the first 18 months of my son's life. We found that he usually slept right through most construction sounds (e.g., hammering, drilling, sawing, etc.), and that was in our own home. He could sleep through just about anything at that age.
It can vary for kids. Our first could sleep through world war III, our second is not so deep a sleeper. I would be extra consistent on nap times, etc. until she is used to the new noise. She'll adjust. You'll figure out a system. Thank goodness for kind neighbors who care! At least the door is open to talk to them if there are problems.
We bought a sound machine for our daughters room. It's great. It has rain, lullabies, and other sounds. The lullabies are great for when we are getting her ready for bed and then we switch to rain. There are dogs in our neighborhood, as well as our own that sometimes bark, and also a guy down the street with an extremely loud motorcycle. Our daughter never hears any of it!! We also use a fan when it's hot, and it works just the same. Just make sure, if it's on the floor, that you turn it off when she is awake, so her little fingers don't find their way into it!
