Hi, I'm a stay at home mom and my 9 month old would nap very well 2ce a day usually at the same time (give or take a 1/2 hr) Now she is skipping 1 nap most of the time and she gets tired at odd times. Yesterday she was great till 1pm and then napped(she's up everyday around 6:30-7am) but today she was fussing early,so I put her down at 10:30am and she slept for 2 hrs! I've tried to keep her regular schedule, but it's not working. She may play for close to 1/2 an hour in her crib (which I let her do) then yell to have me come get her. There doesn't seem to be any reason why or when she wants to sleep. Our daily schedule hasn't changed a bit. She broke 2 teeth a couple weeks ago, but I don't think that's the problem. She goes to bed between 7-7:30pm every night and sleeps through the night. That has NOT changed. I'm at my wits end because I can't tell when she'll want to nap. Help!!!

What can I do next?

Maybe she's dropping the second nap? Seems early, but my dd dropped her second nap at 10 months... That transition was rough for us, taking about a month before it became more regular.
Sometimes babies just like to change up the routine to confuse mommy ;-) Just go with the flow and pay attention to when she's tired. It'll work itself out eventually!

I went through this too when my now 13 month old was dropping his first nap of the day.We got all mixed up and I would lay him down b/c he acted tired but then he would cry.It took a little while but he eventually stopped and I eventually got the hang of his new schedule.

It is normal for children to skip nap times. They don't need as much sleep and they will rest when needed.
There is nothing you did or can do about this.

I have an 11 month old and right around 8.5 months, his dleep patterns changed as well. We were lucky- he took 2 2hr. naps a day, then a short 20 min. one at night. The 2 hr. ones changed to around 1.5 hrs. and a little over an hr. and the evening nap disappeared. He still sleeps through the night and goes down around the same time every night (10:00)and wakes up usually the same time (9:00) If she get's tired at odd times, it may just be her schedule changing. If she's still erratic with her sleep patterns after about a week, I'd try to put her down a little later at night so that she sleeps a little longer during the day. At first, she may be a little fussy due to the lack of sleep at night, but she will make up for it during the day. Also, I'd try some children's tylenol (1/2 dose for your little one) for her teething. Even though she got one a few weeks ago, you never know when another one will break through... Hope this helps!
