I need to get a nanny for 3 days a week to watch my kid(s) starting August. I live in Arlington Heights. Any ideas on where to start? Any websites I can go to? I have an almost 2 year old girl and a 4 1/2 year boy. I haven't had to do this yet and am freaking out.
Thanks.

What can I do next?

I just went through this a week and a half ago. I put feelers out in this community-Thanks to all of those great Mammas with recommendations and suggestions, and found a great nanny for the summer. I also talked with friends which ultimately lead to a great nanny for the summer. A lot of people are looking for jobs, so just putting the word out may help you.

Best,
C.

I used Sitter city as well and found a part time nanny as well as occasional sitter. It's a great service & I would check references & people out throughly. Also, not everyone through Sitter City has had a background check, it will say in their profiles. One of my sitters hadn't had one, but we liked her & felt she was a good fit for our family, so we just asked her if she would get one, as we required that of our sitter. We offered to reimburse the $10.00 fee after she sat for us for 2 mos. She did, and we reimbursed her & 6 mos. later she is still our sitter. :) Good luck to you, I know its hard finding the right person, but they are out there.

I found a great nanny on sittersavvychicago.com
You tell her what you're looking for, and she sends you resumes from her database. I talked to a couple girls, had one interview, and it was done.
We love our sitter, and the service is very reasonable.
Good luck!

I heard great things about sitter city. I didn't know about it when we were looking. I mentioned something at my daughter's preschool, and the director gave me 3 names of people she knew were looking for work AND that she recommended. That's all it took, and we're super pleased with our nanny. She's part time too.

Since it is three days it is possible that your church might have people listed for 'babysitting' as opposed to going to an actual nanny service.Or try neighborhood/village halls for lists of teens as well as park districts or colleges (HARPER?)

www.sittercity.com.

Eveyrone on there has gone through a background check. You can pull schedules for availability, preferences, some history of education and experience, etc... Good way to select candidates to interview.
