Just wondering what would be a fair rate to pay a sitter NYE for 3-4hrs of work from 10:30pm onwards. The 2 kids will be asleep so all she will have to do is be here in case one wakes.

What can I do next?

I'd say double whatever you would normally pay. I get 25 per night, per child. So 50 per child for the evening, regardless of the # of hours or if they are sleeping. I wouldn't give up my NYrs for less.

When I was a nanny I got paid a few dollars per hour per child. She had 7 kids and most were in school so if one was home sick I got paid more. It was not minimum wages though.

Yup. $15-$20/hour seems reasonable.

$15-$20 per hour she is giving up her New Year's depending on where you live. I always got paid more on New Year's Eve compared to normal.

Did the nanny ask for a specific rate? It's New Year's Eve....prime rates for a baby sitter/nanny this night. Everything costs more: hotels, restaurants, bars, babysitters. I would think you would normally be paying $12 -$15/hour for a regular Saturday night so $20 - $25/hour sounds reasonable for the four hours. It doesn't matter if your children are sleeping or not, she still must be there and on duty.

I was thinking 100$ for the 4 hours to give up her NYE.
