I would like to have a naming ceremony for my son but I need some ideas. I would like the ceremony to have a greater significance than just a "party". If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Many thanks!

What can I do next?

I have an acquaintance who is a Wiccan who had a naming ceremony for her daughter. I looked on-line under Naming Ceremony and the number 2 pick under Tiny Prints looks promising.

There is a lady, crysta bourdon, who has a business posted on mamasource. I know she attends and does blessingways, naming ceremonies, etc.. if you can find her business, it's called "mamaology" I know she can help you out. This woman is a genious.

We had a lovely naming ceremony with just the family, prayers for my daughter's future progress, described the origin of her name, and had some light delicacies. We videotaped it too so that Haley-Grace could enjoy it later.

all the best -

Why not look up the baby's spiritual name? And add that to the celebration. Look to your belief system.

Do some research on the name you've chosen. Talk about, print or whatever.....what that name means....famous people in history who had that same name, etc.

Test your guests, if you want and have a game of it and have them try and come up w/ the answers. Do it in pairs, groups or whatever. They WONT soon forget it.

H.....Have it at a church or someplace beautiful outside and dedicate him to the Lord. That would be very meaningful! Invite all your friends..send invitations...have cake and coffee/punch. May God bless you.

If the naming ceremony is religion based, then get your religious leader involved in the ceremony and have a party afterwards to celebrate.

How about giving everyone decorated note cards and have them write the name of choice and why they chose it, then whomevers name you pick, keep the card w/it's significance for the baby book. What a great idea!!

We had a blessing ceremony the day of my son's first birthday party. We had each attendee right a blessing or wish for him on a piece of paper and each read it to him as part of the ceremony. I intend to make a scrapbook of the papers one day. We also had a poem read and my good friend "officiated" it and provided an official blessing. I have the "script" if you would like to see it. Just message me.
