Hi, I was hoping I can get some ideas on names. We are having a baby boy... in about a week, or less.... and have not come up with a name we both like. We have gone through 2 baby name books, so I thought I would check in on here :) I tend to like some western or unique names, I kind of like Rogan and I like Ryder, but any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

Agreeing on names is tough! We have a Brody and Greyson, but I also love Zane or Rowan. Maybe more Irish than western though?

Western names? Check out a list of all the counties in Texas and see if that doesn't spark some inspiration. My first and middle names are two Texas counties too! Here's fun game: Lay out a Texas map on a dart board and throw two darts: Bingo! There's your name.
I love the name Roman or Mason. Rogan is cute to it reminds me of Roman.

Have you considered using your maiden name as his first name?
Go to a rodeo website and look at the results to see the names of the competitors, that should give you some good western names to choose from.

We did not have a name for my son until two days after he was born. We named him Travis Daniel, just because that is what he looked like. He is five weeks old now, and I still call him Trevor, Tyler, Taylor and any other two syllable T name I can think of. He just looked like a Travis (actually I was calling him Farmer Ted, but that wouldn't do for a permanent name). We also liked a lot of other names, including Grayson, Brett, Aaron, etc.

these are used in okla for girls names but i knew a western cowboy family these were the kids names you might like for a boy. dakota, wrangler, denver, chyeanne, and thier last name was buck. what about buck for a first name?
then there is always john wayne cant get more western than that. also look in the pbr. you have rope, tuff, ty, and some other really unique names

I love Rogan. I thought of Brogan for my son, but "brogan" is a type of shoe and I just couldn't use it myself. I like Brody as well.

I am not fond of Rogan but I do like Ryder. How about Cole or the ever popular Wyatt?
I am partial to Ryder, as that is my son's name ;-)
But one thing to be aware of... we were aware of the Ryder Cup, and felt that wasn't a big deal. However, after our son was born we would tell someone his name and they would be like "You mean like the rental truck company? He is big like their trucks." or "Is your next one going to be named Uhaul? ha, ha" It was quite annoying. Luckily, that kind of response has died off for the most part (after four years).
I knew a boy named Stetson. He was a great kid, always very independent. In a good way, lol. He had brothers named Houston and Austin. You'd think they were Texans or something. ;-)
There's also Wyatt and Hunter.
