I am trying to change my sons last name to my husbands last name. My ex-husband is fine with this so it is uncontested so no problem there it is just trying to find a lawyer who won't charge $1,000 to do it. If you have any ideas pleas let me know!! Anything will be gladly excepted!! Thanks for your time

So What Happened?

We have found a lawyer and that it is only going to cost us 500 so that isn't too bad. We are going to start the process in the next week or so and I couldn't be happier!!

Try legalzoom.com for about 100-200 you can do this yourself on-line using the same documentation an attorney would.

Can't you just go to the social security office and request the forms to start the process yourself? Just a thought. Good luck!

Michelle,
I work for an attorney who may be able to help you out. I'm not sure exactly how much he would charge, but I am certain it would be less than $1,000.00 - he doesn't even charge that amount for a divorce. His name is Tommy Carter, he's really nice and doesn't have a problem taking the time to address any questions are concerns his clients have. His number is ###-###-#### - that's his cell number and he always has it on unless he's in court or with his kids.

You dont need a lawyer or anything like that. I changed my daughters last name when she was a year old. Call Texas Vital Records or State of Texas Department of Human Services. I dont know the number, but it was like $25. Good luck, but you dont need a lawyer if your ex agrees to it!!

If you're able to find one, than please let me know!!! Because I need one for myself, but everywhere I have checked that is the price range or even higher. I will talk to my attorney to see if there is two people would he cut us a deal. If you would like to give me a call, if you want it is ###-###-####, I will ask him tomorrow.
