I was watching dream girls when of course I was day dreaming about the first girl born into my family. I thought about what I would name a girl. ( i had two sons and have 5 nephews... 0 girls this is unrealistic but hey a girl can dream). I think if I ever have a girl in my future I would name her Patience. I think it is beautiful. What are your thoughts mama's

I have kinda thought about the harsh things kids could say and well my boyfriend thinks it is just wierd lol. But im not the usual for shortening my kids names.

I love thinking of names. I do for my friends my family. pets.. I even named our cow just to be naming something. I hate traditional names. The less heard the more I like em.

Haha Amanda F I never thought about that... That is so cool lol

You ladies rock you have opened my eyes so much. I will always love the name but I dont think I will ever use it for one of my children. Its not like I am planning right now but someday, maybe, I hope!

What can I do next?

Eh, you're asking for trouble I think. As if in she isn't a patient person. It's like naming a kid Samson and he grows up to be scrawny. Or naming a kid true and they end up being a pathological liar. I wouldn't do it. I understand not liking common names but there are plenty out there that are normal and unique! I grew up with a name that I hated and wouldn't ever do anything questionable with my kids names.

That's a pretty name. When I was pg with my youngest his name would have been Destiny Renae. Instead his name is Dylan Ray.

Pretty.
I can't decide though if it's very old fashioned - like Prudence. Or kinda ghetto like Precious.

Certain things you have to consider - 1st impression, how will kids make fun of it, and what will you shorten it to!

I always try to picture an HR lady picking up a resume and reading the name outloud. What impression would they have of the person based on that name.
what will mean kids say? Have some Patience Patience, dont be so impatient Patience. Patiences got no patience?
Can't think of much to shorten it to - Patty?

I believe it's pretty.

My daughter's name, Aubry has in recent years become popular and had my son been a boy he would've been named Aurora Magdalena.

Although it's not likely I'll ever have another child I believe it's fun to think of possible names.

That is a very pretty name!!! I have 3 little boys. I wanted a girl so bad, but God had other plans. We decided we were'nt having anymore babies, and unless God gives us a miracle, it ain't happenin!!! LOL, i had a tubal and hubby a vasectomy. Anywhoo....If I were to be blessed with a daughter, either naturally or from adoption, I would want to name her Brooklynn Rae. I love the name Brooklynn, and Rae is a tribute to my grandpa, his name was Rayburn but everyone always call him Ray.

Personally? Not the name for me. Just like I don't like Neaveh. I would name my daughter Precious either - but that is ME.

It doesn't matter what I think or anyone else thinks - this your child - you can name her what you want.

I like that name. We were blessed with a bundle of pink joy. She is named after my mother and MIL. Shannon Marie. I always loved the name Shannon (my mom). You don't or didn't meet alot of Shannon's. She is now 23 and was telling me her favorite names for a little girl, when and if she ever has one. She likes the name Leisal. Very German. I'm not a fan but I'm not the mommy either so I don't get a say!! :)

I love the name Emma. I think it sounds so pretty.

I agree with T.J. that you're opening her up to some teasing if it turns out that she isn't patient. I had a friend named Rebel that was the most mild-mannered and quiet person I ever met.

i always thought up baby names and wanted something not-so-common and came up with some that i would've regretted actually naming my children. boy names were so hard for me to come up with but i had a ton of girl names. figured i'd have a boy for sure! when i had my daughter(only child), i ended up going back to the very 1st name i'd thought of: angelica rose. she's glad she isn't starr, echo, vidalia, amethyst, or any of the other out there names on my list.

Patience is pretty, but I do think she would be made fun of. Kids can be such jerks!

I love thinking of names and daydreaming about what if. I have three kids, and wouldn't mind a fourth, but my husband is done. I always thought I'd have two girls and a boy. Instead, I have one girl and two boys. I love traditional names and love the name Madeline Grace so if I were to be lucky to have another baby and it was a girl, that would be her name. We had such a hard time agreeing on boys names with our two boys. If we had another boy, I like Ian Michael or Gavin Michael.

I think it is nice. When I was in Zimbabwe the tradition there was for a woman to name her baby what she is feeling right after the birth. There are a lot of kids there named Blessing. And speaking of interesting names, I used to have a friend in my 20s named Dangerous. She did kind of live up to her name, and yes, her parents named her this! At the same time I had another friend named Sunshine. Obviously her parents were hippies! :)

Not a fan of the name.

But speaking of naming things - I always liked the name Elora. Sadly, I had my daughter's name all picked out Elora Meredith P---- then I never got pregnant with that husband. Divorced. Now I'm remarried and can't imagine naming my future daughter Elora b/c that's the name I picked with my PAST life. THIS life ...... I still like the name, but can't use it b/c I associate it with my ex, even if we never did have kids.

Eh but I know what you mean - I have a list of names to name my future child. I am not even pregnant but I keep a list going!

My opinion on the name doesn't matter - it's YOUR choice, but I wanted to give you a little hope on the "girl" front!

My husband is one of three boys, his two brothers each had three boys, and our first child was a boy so we thought we were just fulfilling the plan. We were SO (pleasantly!) surprised when the ultrasound for our second child very clearly showed a GIRL! She is the first girl on that side in over 50 years. Good luck - you can break the mold!
