My two-and-a-half-year-old son is biting his fingernails. I'm not sure what to do to get him to stop. I've been reminding him to stop biting his nails and he'll say, "Okay, Mama, I won't bite my nails." And then, he starts doing it again after a little while. It seems like he's got a very bad habit here and I need to find out ways to help him to remember to stop biting his poor fingernails. He's biting them down to the quick. Thanks for your help in advance! :) I've asked for help on here before and was blown away (in a good way)by the great responses I received.
hi J., i have a option that might work. go to your local pharmacy and get this stuff called "thum" they should have it behind the counter. its for thumb sucking and biting nails. it wont harm him but it sure taste nasty. hope it works for you. take care

We put cinnamon water on my son's fingers. The bitter taste was enough for him.
Our almost 3yo started doing this recently. We started carrying clippers everywhere with us and if he felt like biting, he could ask to cut them. We would do that for him, just as short as we could. It was a pain for a while, but now he's able to go between cuttings for the most part. We have to watch his sucking thumb, though. :) GL!
