So, on a happy note finally we are going on our first family trip in a week to Myrtle Beach :) I am SOOOOO excited. Its been awhile since I've been there and I want to make the best of it for all of us! My kids are 16, 3 and 8 mos. BIG gap I know lol. So far I've discovered the new pirate adventure show, the Ripley's Aquarium and a few nightly "carnivals" and fireworks. I've been scanning the websites too, but I know theres so much!
I welcome ANY and ALL recommendations! TIA!!!!

What can I do next?

We are too!

I got the Myrtle Beach VIP card to get extra discounts: http://www.myrtlebeachvipcard.com/store/proddetail.cfm?It...

I also contacted the tourism dept to get materials sent.

And guess what, Piggly Wiggly offers a service where you can pre-order groceries and have them waiting for you. There's one not far from the airport. So we're planning on doing that, stopping off to pick up the groceries and get to our rental in no time.

I've read the Dolly Parton show is amazing.

The new boardwalk is open and very nice. There are several fishing piers that you can walk along or just fish to your hearts content. However, MB has taken a big hit in the housing arena. And the large brush fires last year didn't help. Many projects are half completed or in the case of NMB condos, not completed at all. Check bedbug registry also. There have been a number of reports about those critters. Housekeepers hired has also taken a hit since a story in the news about how they were getting bitten while cleaning rooms and no one knows how to eradicate the little buggers.
At the least, I would ask the hotel or condo owner if the mattresses are encased and try to avoid pet-friendly rooms. Broadway at the beach is always fun and Barefoot Landing has the alligator adventure. Good Luck!

My suggestion - RELAX!! =) We went a few years ago, and didn't do anything other than hang out at the beach. We cooked our meals & went to & from the beach as we wanted. It was perfect!!! My kids still talk about it -- their teachers were even like "what happened on that vacation?!" because my kids were so thrilled. Enjoy it -- Myrtle Beach is fun!

I LOVE Myrtle Beach! We are going July 16 - 23, taking my 12 year old and a friend, my 6 year old, my parents and my aunt and uncle are meeting us from Texas with their 12, 8 and 7 yo. We are planning on making breakfast and lunch in the hotel room and spending the days at the beach. Then we will shower and head out for dinner and to do something fun each night.

Some of the fun places to check out are:
Broadway at the Beach - Ripley's Aquarium is here, plus the new MagiQuest that my kids can not wait to try out!!
Family Kingdom - Fun little amusement park
Myrtle Waves - Water Park
Nascar Speed Park - Something for everyone to do.
Mini Golf - There are TONS of different miniature golf places to choose from.
Medieval Times - Dinner theater

Some good places to have dinner are:
River City Cafe
Angelo's Steak and Pasta - early bird buffet
Fuddruckers
Planet Hollywood

Be sure to check online for coupons, you can find really good deals and I think that I am also going to purchase the Myrlte Beach VIP card.

Hope you have an amazing vacation!!! I can not wait for mine!

I would check the temperature there for the first week of June. Good luck. I'm sure you also want to go to the beach.

The "calabash" aka all you can eat restaurants are seriously crowded, so head north to Calabash, NC - it's only 15 minutes from center of Myrtle up 501. Just watch for the signs. It's on the Calabash River and if you go early enough, can get a window table. There are also some nice waterfront restaurants in Murrells Inlet heading south.

At the backside where Ripley's is, you'll find a carousel for the kids.

Wow-I need suggestions from YOU!
We just booked our first Myrtle vacation for June 18-23 at Compass Cove. We are taking our four kids: 7, 4, 2, and 5 months, and grandma.
We have never been to Myrtle Beach before, so I hoped we picked a decent spot and time! The Compass Cove website made it look like we are close to good things. I hope we are near something like an amusement park so the kids can ride a few rides.

I went to college in Florence, just an hour from MB. I heard it has changed a lot since I was there, but I used to love fishing, looking for fossils and sharks teeth, and some of the shops at Barefoot Landing. I also liked camping at the state park (except for at the hottest times of the summer)
