I had an ultrasound in the hospital abt 8wks in and they did it vaginally to see the baby, he or she was there and there were no problems. when I became 10 weeks, i went to have my first scheduled ultrasound at the womens center, and they did not see the baby like i saw it at the hospital i could only hear the hesrtbeat..i have an appt friday with my doctor but im wondering if there is anything i should be alarmed about and move my appt up, or if its normal?
The first ultrasound is usually to determine the size and age of the baby. After that you will probably only have sonograms until 20 wks.
I wouldn't worry. My son zoomed around my uterus so fast that they sometimes could rarely catch him on the screen...even with the heartbeat we'd hear it for a few seconds and then off he'd go!
I did have quite a few ultrasounds early on, there was concern that I might be having twins. I wouldn't worry about the number of ultrasounds either. I chalked it up to a great opportunity to see my son grow at a lot of different stages. And as long as you can hear the heartbeat, you're good to go! Also keep in mind that as long as you are still having some of the first trimester feelings (nausea/morning sickness/breast tenderness/etc etc) then that is a good sign as well. AND, if your OB has not given you any inclination of something to be alarmed about, don't be!!
I agree... the u/s machines at the hospital are more high tech than the ones at the OB office. GL!
Do NOT worry. Think about the different angles. I have had both ultrasounds. It is very different.
Ultrasound machines vary in their technology. I had a high risk pregnancy and the u/s machine at the hospital was state of the art and amazing in the pictures it showed of the baby. However the u/s machine at my regular ob's office was not on the same level and you could barely make out the baby and could hardly see the fingers or toes. As long as there is a good strong heartbeat it should be fine.
I agree with the people who said it sounds like everything is fine. BUT... If you are concerned, I do think you should call and move up your appointment or speak to your doctor's nurse. Not because something might be wrong, but just to give you peace of mind. When I was pregnant with my fourth child, shortly after a miscarriage with my third, I suddenly woke up and felt that my breasts weren't as tender and I wasn't sure I felt pregnant anymore. I called the doctor, and they told me to come right in. They listened for a heartbeat, which was strong and steady, and I finally relaxed, happy tears streaming down my cheeks (the pregnancy ended in a healthy baby boy). I really needed that - to wait a few days would have been torture! So if this is stressing you, I would absolutely get in there early.

I'm a little concerned that your having so many ultrasounds. Maybe there's a medical issue that's not mentioned. Until I was in the range of 18-22 weeks, that was the only ultrasound that was done. My monthly visits only regular check up ... weighing, a measurement of my tummy and listening to heart beat of the baby. No red flags - nothing extra done until later in the pregnancy as recommended.
Hearing the heartbeat is a very good sign. If you saw the baby on the 1st one, great. Not every ultrasound is good. We went 3 times to find out if it was a boy or girl, and they couldn't tell. If everything else is going well, no bleeding or heavy cramping etc, relax and think about your bundle of joy coming into your life!!!!
As long they could find and hear a strong heartbeat relax!
Totally normal this early on. The key is the heartbeat! enjoy the pregnancy
