About one week ago my daughter started to vomit. She vomited once on Tuesday after lunch. She did not on Wednesday, but did again on Thursday, I then took her to Urgent care. They said she was fine and to keep an eye on her. She it again on Friday and then again on Saturday and Sunday!! I of course took her to her regular pediatrician today and she said the same, she can;t find any thing wrong with her!! I am so frustrated! I don't want her to be overlooking a major problem, but I am not a doctor. She is cutting her to top teeth, but her doctor assured me that would not make her throw up. It also seems that she only does it after she eats veggies, I have fed her fruit and she doesn't seem to have the same reaction, although yesterday she vomited after giving her pedialyte, so I am unsure. When I fed her the mixed veggies she started to gag and then about an hour later she vomited and she gets so scared and clings to me. I get so terrified and pray nothing is wrong with her. Has this happened to any one else? She also eats much less than she was before, with her food and her formula. Her doctor suggested that I give her bananas and applesauce for food right now but not to force her to eat, if she has not gotten better by next Monday call her back. I am not sure what to do. Please HELP!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

She just stopped vomitting. I held back on thicker foods and added a little water to the ones I questioned. She just stopped. Thanks for all your help!

I dont know why a doctor would say cutting teeth doesnt make a child vomit. My daughter got severly ill every time she cut a tooth from : vomiting, diarrhea, ear infections each time and so on.
If her diet seems to be in question, elminate all but one food at a time for two or three days, then add another food. See which ones seem to cause her to gag and subsequently vomit, it may be that her system wont tolerate veggies right now.

My kids hated pedialyte and would toss it back up about as fast as it went in LOL..just as an fyi..hope that helps! But i would say as long as shes keeping other foods down and liquids and as long as it doesnt become chronic, I wouldnt worry too much.
Hope she gets to feeling better!

try keeping a food diary. and then note each time it occurs. it may help to isolate if there may be a certain food she's allergic too.

Some kids have high gag reflex. Veggie have a thicker texture than fruits (baby food). That part of the reason drs. generally advise starting with the veggies first. otherwise, they get used to the ease & taste of eating fruits, that then making eating veggies harder.

She will eat less than with formula, because the food satisfies her longer.

If she's not running a fever, and still plays pretty normally then just keep an eye on her, make notes so that if it persists you can take back to you doctor or even another doctor. the more info they have, the better they can maybe infer a possible problem.

I have been in and out of child care for twenty some years and have seen almost everything... I have seen several children do this for a number of reasons. One could be that she has a over active gag reflex. I cared for a child with this that vomited after anything he didn't like, because he was not able to control the muscles in his throat that would make him gag and then throw up. He got to the point that as he got older, he would use this to get out of class when ever things got tuff for him...so be careful not to over react to this...kids are smarter than we give them credit for, and can use our reactions against us if we aren't careful. It also could be that she isn't ready for veggies. Try slowing down on introducing new foods. Just try one new one a week. Some children don't adjust to change or new foods as quickly as others. You could also try the milder veggies first, like corn, potatoes, maybe squash, leave the green, or stronger ones for later. Mixed anything has a varity of diffrent veggies, one that she might be reacting to, so I would stay away from anything mixed. Just serve her single fruits, and mild veggies for a while. As long as she is not loosing weight and is getting plenty of vitamins through other foods, I wouldn't stress...if she continues to do this and you feel she is less active or seems to be suffering, insist that the doctors investigate it more throughly. A mother usually knows when there is something wrong, after all we are with our children more than the doctor is. I would stay away from Pedialyt also. She would probably tolerate water and juices better. (Have you tasted that stuff, ugh!!) Best wishes to you and your daughter. Remember to enjoy her and not stress over everything. She is only a baby for a little while longer, and you'll never get that time back, relax and enjoy her!!

you are not a doctor but you do know your child better than they do so if you are not happy with what they say get another opinion. she sounds like she may have a infection in her intestants or a form of acd reflucts. she also may be allergic to some veggies. i would get another opinion though she does have something wrong from the sounds of it and i honestly think you are right to worry. please let me know how everything turns out. i hope you find this helpfull.
i thought i would ask if there was any update on your little girl.

I would follow the doctors advice with the applesauce and bananas and do a follow up with the doctor. Have them check the baby for allergies. You didnt say how long she has been eating veggies, so its really hard to say for sure if she is allergic. But do check for hives and a rash around her mouth too. This are other signs of food allergies. Another suggestion I have is to maybe cut back on the amount of food she takes in. My baby, when she was a newborn, would eat an 8 oz bottle with no problem, then vomit the whole bottle up later. It was a mess, but I was told that she was taking in too much and as soon as I switched her to a 6 oz bottle the problem went away. She just would take an extra bottle of milk later. It is scary and frustrating and if you are uncomfortable with your doctor, you have every right to get a second, third, fourth, or as many as you want opinions. Good Luck!

Ahhh My daughter did that to she is now 5. But when she was around 1 yrs old she did that I took her to the Univeristy of Iowa and had her looked over... They told me she was fun but eatting way to much her tummy couldnt hold all of it....So they told me to cut back on what she was eatting. It was hard cause if your child asks for food you are supposed to give it right?? Well if she was hungry we did activities instead and it did help she stopped vomiting!!! Now she wont eat and that consernes me a bit...but again I took her to the doc and they said she was fine ughhhhh. SO maybe watch what she eats and do something else instead eatting see if that helps!!
Good LUck
Hang in there!!

I'm not sure this will help but maybe you will find it comforting. My son is 12 months and we had the same thing happen 3 times in one week. He was eating different things each time and it happened on different days. He is also in the middle of cutting teeth. When I took him in to see our doctor they told me not to worry sometimes when teething they can have alot of extra saliva and because babies swallow all of it, their tummy can get upset. He also said not to worry about the vomitting unless it happens consecutively.

Hi. I happened to talk to a friend yesterday that her son was doing the same thing, but at about a month old. If she doesn't stop vomiting, ask the doctor to check out her muscle below her intestine, this muscle is supposed to open up to let the nutrients in, but with the case of my friend, it had closed, which had caused her son to vomit constantly and he started losing weight. If this is the cause, she will have to get surgery done to reopen that muscle (I forgot what it's called, my apologies!!!) Please don't be scared by this, it's just something I learned and I hope that it helps.
