My Temporary Just Fell Out!

My temporary crown just fell out. They said to call if this happens but it's Saturday. My permanent crown had to be sent back to the lab twice because it didn't fit so I've had this crown on for over a month now (maybe 2). Monday will be the third attempt to put my permanent on (1st one cracked, 2nd one didn't fit), and I'm afraid if I wait too long the third crown won't fit. Should I just call and leave a message and hope that they call me back?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for your advice. I called the doctor's emergency number and she called me back within 30 minutes. A few hours later I went into her office and she put in my permanent. It was nice of her to see me on her "off" day but I think she knew how much trouble we have had with the crowns and didn't want to wait until Monday. Thanks again ladies!

I guarantee my dentist will take care of you this weekend. He has the materials to do the fix at his office. No mailing out or waiting for a lab. If you want his number email me and I will give you his cell. However, he is in Vernon Hills not all that close to you.

Been there, several times. You can go to the drug store and get a temporary cementing kit (I don't remember exactly what it's called.) It's a tiny bottle of temporary cement so your crown will stay in until you can get to your dentist. Only use a tiny bit of the cement, and no matter what it'll probably ride hide so try not to chew on that side until you see your dentist.

It will only go on 1 way. Get some fixodent and put it in. Bite very gently.

I had the same problem with a temporary crown falling out. But beforehand, they said this was common and to rinse, use fixodent and push it back in. I called and they returned my call promptly. They did not have me come in until Monday because I wasn't chewing in that area and there was no pain. If you are concerned, call. Good luck with your crown.

just make sure you get it back in or permt will not fit come mon.
Use temp cement from drug store but be sure to add a little of Vaseline(other wise it will be hard to take off) or use denture adhesive again pick up at drug store...this is bettter then temp cement....our patients also find that it works well..just careful with what you eat either way....hope this helps.....good luck....

Hi J.,
I had this happen and my dentist's office made me wait until Monday and said "don't chew on that side of your mouth" and everything turned out okay. They had me save the temporary crown in a plastic bag for the dentist's office.

I had my temporary fall out too, just call & leave a message so their aware of it. My dentist told me to try and put it back in myself, which of course I couldn't. I went into the office & they put it back on within a few minutes. Sorry to hear you've had so many issues with the permanent one, I had NO problems at all with mine. Until you get the permanent one in, don't chew on that side & don't brush in that area. Good luck to you.
