My Tailbone!

I injured my tail bone during the birth of my first son over 3 years ago. It has hurt from time to time since then. I have researched the topic on the internet and I know it is common, but I haven't met anyone else with this problem. Has anyone here received treatment? Where did you go? I know all about home treatment, but that isn't always enough. Car rides can put me in pain for days.

What can I do next?

I had the same thing and dealt with the pain for 4-5 years. I would wince in pain every time I stood up and sitting for long periods killed me. I made sure I had a lumbar support chair. I worked at a free clinic and was able to talk to the Chiropracter there. He did a free adjustment, which was totally bizarre and I felt like I was in the twighlight zone but I swear to you that one adjustment worked for me. He wasn't a "cracker" who adjusts you by cracking your bones. If you can find a good a Chiropracter that does soft adjustments, it really might help for you. I'd check them out first. I don't really trust alot of Chiropractors. This guy was a miracle for me.

Hi L.!! I know what you are feeling and it really does hurt.I broke my tail bone in the 6th grade and although i'm 40 and a mom of 7 it still to this day bothers me,especially if i sit too long or take any bumpy rides. The pain was really bad everytime that i got pregnant and i finally went to the dr. and he sent me to a message therapist and a chiropractor. That did help for a while but it's very expensive, but it works.I have decided to just live with it because my insurance that we have right now doesn't cover much of the cost, but hopefully this will help. You might try the chiropractor, they can do wonders with all of the new technology these days.Good Luck, and God Bless!! Hey L.
I am going through the same thing right now. I injured mine having my daughter just over a year ago. I went to the dr. and without looking at it he said he thought it was a pinched nerve. He told me to do a certain excersise and it would get better in a couple of months. I did and it didn't! Being less mobile because of the pain made me gain quite a bit of weight which in turn has made the pain worse. Recently I went to another dr. (internal med) and he sent me for an MRI. It showed an abnormality with my sacrum and coccxyc (the bone that holds your pelvic together and the tail bone) so he sent me in for a bone scan(for more detail, I guess). I just had that done Friday. I am anxious to see what that will show. In the mean time he prescribed me some meds to take. Mobic and Lyrica for pain. I just started those today. Anyway I hope this helps you. If you have any questions please message me back. I will message you after I find out what the bone scan shows. Maybe it will be an avenue for you to look at. Be cautoius about seeing a chiropractor, that could injure the problem more. I would find out what the deal is first. Good luck, I will keep you informed.

I agree find a good Chiropractor. I messed up my tail bone right as I got pregnant with my 2nd child. Dr. Jeff Schumann "Little Doc" kept me in alignment until I was too big to move right. Afterward he helped me to stay that way without medications.

my middle boy is 6 now. I find if I sit in the wrong position too long I still have trouble. Mainly in older vehicles, like my truck, movie theater seats and dining chairs.

Make sure you practice good posture. keep both feet on the floor when sitting at the computer, don't slump while sitting or standing keep you shoulders back to ensure good balance and get a good matress that won't put pressure on your tailbone when you're asleep.

I actually broke my tailbone a few years back. It took about a year and a half to two years for it to heal..I remember thinking that it would never be back to normal. Car rides, airplane rides, it all made me very sore...the good news is that is eventually did return to normal.
Hope that offers some encouragement
