My son was the same. He will eat if he is hungry enough. Don't worry. My son was always in the 3% range for weight and 95% for height. Give him a daily vitamin. I used to sneak fruits and veggies into his pancakes (sweet potato pancakes, applesauce pancakes, zucchini pancakes, etc.) Hope this helps.

hi, my daugther did the same thing when she was that age and now she is gonna be two and still is not a bigger eatter. i worried like crazy. i use to cry and hate feeding time but then i did some research. it amezed me how little they actually have to eat to maintain a heralth weight. look up the portion size for infants or toddlers on line. it is so little it will surprise you. i would call her dr and cry because i thought she wasn't health. as long as he isn't losing to much weight he should be ok. good luck

Well, let me start by telling you that my best friend, whos son is also almost exactly 13 months old, has that same problem. My daughter wouldn't eat because she's been sick and I was told that they'll eat when they're hungry. If he doesn't start eating more soon, take Vicent back to the doctor. I'm sure he's a healthy, smart and adorable little Mr. Man!! Don't worry about it. You know your son best and you'll know when to be really worried by it. You're a good mom! Let that sink in a little!!

My 14 mo old twins do the same exact thing, whats worse is they were 2 mo premature so already I am neurotic about food an weight gain. what I have been doing is for every meal I offer table food something they generally like ie: grilled cheese, I pretend to eat it with them and whenever they finally put it in their mouths I praise them and clap and they seem to get excited. Once they really start getting fussy I give them a jar of baby food just to make sure they are getting enough calories. Probably not pediatrician recommended but thats what works for me they have gooten better since I started that method. Let me know what happens. Good luck

I'm a mother of 5. I've learned they crave what they need and will eat in spurts. alot on some days and practically nothing on others. Just keep introducing new things to to him and giving him what he likes. one thing i do, is share what im eating. saying yummm this is good, do you want some. they will eat what they want. plus i give him vitamins so he's at least getting some vitamins. It'll pass.

Good luck,

my son was a great eater and then he hit 15 months and turned into the worste eater! i give him those pediasure drinks and bars to help myself feel better but i know deep down inside he is fine. his dr said the same thing yours did, he is fine. its just in our heads that thay are not! does he drink milk? one thing to that you need to stay firm with is keep offering him meals every time. evan if you know he wont eat it, do it anyway. one day he will shock you and eat! make sure you do that 3 times a day. at least you know you tried evan if he doesnt eat it and he will know thats whats being offered to him before you break down and give him a pediasure bar! good luck!

I give both my boys breakfast drinks in the morning because they don't eat well, plus they just don't like to eat breakfast. I used to get the Pedisure drinks, but it was breaking my piggy bank so I started buying Ovaltine and it fills them right up.

My 17 month old throws most everything to the dogs. If I find a food he likes, that's what he gets. I'm all about filling his belly, not so much on the nutrition. He takes a vitamin to make up for the lack of nutritional value in his all Macaroni and Cheese diet. Ask about a vitamin, and feed him what he wants, if you can find something. Most toddlers go through this. I would get super frustrated, then I just let go, and went with the flow. He'll be fine.

My son was like that at that age. VERY picky eater. I don't recommend catering with milkshakes and such because he may never get over it and then develop GI problems later on as my dear friend's son did. My kid? He's healthy and doing great at almost 12, eats a variety of foods--he even like brussel sprouts. ;)we just kept offering him a variety of healthy foods, and eventually he found that food could be good. 13 months is very young and everything is new and overwhelming. Go back to doc though if he seems to have any pain or discomfort from eating.
