My Son's Baby Teeth - Again Please Help

I posted this question a couple of days ago.

Now my son recovered from all that dental pain. But I noticed that he only chews on one side, and used a lot of water just wash the food down. He said he was fine, and he can handle it because he just does not want to go to the dentist again. Eventually, we found out that the caps do not fit, he can not bit down both side at the same time. How can dentist change his beat issue without putting him through that trauma?

I have to call that dentist tomorrow, but do not want to go there without knowing anything ahead of time again.

Thank you for all the suggestions

W.

I would call the dentist tomorrow to tell him what is going on & ask what
needs to be done.

THEN, ask for some type of pain medication (shot?....make sure it has time to take effect before they do the work).

As as child I had terrible experiences (work done w/o any pain mediciation, finally getting a shot but not waiting for it to take effect....
medicine finally kicked in when I was getting out of the chair. Very
painful and very scarring.)

If the dentist isn't compliant and/or any good, change dentists!

Good luck for your little one. It will be okay. Just do the leg work.

Find a dentist that will put him to sleep. Ours does all dental work through the out patient surgery center at Children's Hospital in OKC, plus he does at 2 other hospitals too. It is so much better. They have the mask on for just a moment and they are asleep. They can get IV's or anesthesia and they just sleep right through it and feel no pain, have no memories of it, etc...I wish everyone had the dentist we use. He is awesome.

they may have to numb him again. maybe see if they can use laughing gas to help relax him. my daughter had 2 cavities filled (shes 4) and her dentist used laughing gas to relax her and she only felt one needle poke. no scare no trauma and she came out smiling.

It sounds like he needs a bite adjustment. Sometimes when a crown (cap) is placed, the crown may be too high and needs to be filed down a bit. I'm surprised that they didn't check the bite when he had the work done. Maybe they did and it just wasn't enough. If a bite adjustment is all he needs, they won't have to numb him up again. It's painless. They usually have the patient bite down on a piece of carbon like paper which marks where the teeth are hitting too high and then just file the crown down a little where it hits too hard. I really hope that is all your little guy will need so he won't be traumatized anymore. Good luck to you.

Ask your dentist what the options are.

I had a crown that didn't fit well, and the dentist was able to gently grind the top until it fit. It was not at all painful. I have no idea if caps are similar or different this way.
