Okay so my side hurts really bad and it has just started hurting recently. Especially when my 2 week-old nurses! Is this common for mothers after pregnancy? Please help, even if you think it might help, please respond!

Please call your doctor. Your body goes through so many changes during pregnancy, delivery, and post partum that this could be a multitude of things.

A week after giving birth to my first, I had a gall bladder attack and had to have it removed. You never know.

There's just not enough information to even guess, L.. Where is the pain? Under breast? In armpit, ribs, waist, or hip? Sharp, stabbing, dull, aching, burning? Could holding your baby for nursing be stressing some muscle?

If the pain is severe, you should talk to your doctor about it. Good luck; I hope it's nothing serious.

It could be perfectly normal. I had a lot of pain during nursing due to the normal contractions of the uterus--double me over pain.

But, as others have said, it could be a multitude of issues. It is worth a call to your midwife or doctor.

Is it your right side? Sort of under your ribcage? Preeclampsia can still occur after you deliver and for six weeks after...can you check your blood pressure? If it's at all high, you should seek medical treatment immediately. Pre-e, especially after delivery, can be very serious.

My side has been hurting too for the last few months. I had a CT scan and ultrasound that both showed everything to be ok. I had been going to the chiropractor for migraine headaches and talked to him about my side aching. He wanted to do a xray, came back that my hips were out of alignment possibly due to being pregnant (I was HUGE) or child birth. I've been getting adjustments now on that side for the last five weeks and starting to feel a little better.

Birth can leave you pretty battered. It took 5 months for the things that were going to heal, to fully heal. I had a number of internal pains after my daughter's birth and was assured by a specialist that they all fell into th realm of "normal." So, probably, your pain is normal.
