My son has always loved any food that I put in front of him...until now. He refuses to eat any baby food (except peas and sweet potatoes). He wants to eat whatever we are eating witch is ok at our meal times, but he also goes to a babysitter and I have to bring all food over for him. Its becoming really hard to think of things to bring with him for meals. I could use any advice or meal ideas that worked for you.

What can I do next?

My daughter is the exact same way. It is becoming a hassle because she want to eat when ever she sees food. I have begun to try to give her what we eat at dinner time, and I try to make extra for the next day. I also boil sweet potatoes, veggies, chicken breast, rice and mash (or food proccess). I sometimes cut them into small peices and give it to her as finger foods. I then put them into little containers mixed together or seperate and put them into the freezer. You can write on the container what they are and when to use by. I just warm it up and give it to her. Something she also likes as a snack is polly-o string cheese.I string it out and give her small pieces. I guess you can try this and see if it works for you. It kind of saves me time and I know she is eating healthy.

My son has always shunned baby food- he's 9 months old now and has been eating table food for several months. I love the Gerber Graduates fruits and veggies-- or you can bake apples and pears and steam carrots yourself and dice them really small. My son eats pretty much anything we eat (except the obvious, like allergy triggers and hard foods like raw carrots because he has no teeth). Once you find a few things your baby will eat and are easy to pack for the sitter, stick with that short list-- I'm sure he'll be fine with the same familiar foods over and over again.

Hi there. My son, (who is now 5), was the same way and I had the same sitter arrangement as you. What I did was cook a little extra for supper the nite before and then pack his lunch in those little round 4 oz. tupperwares. That way the sitter could just warm them up in the microwave. for example. I would finely mince some chicken breast, some mac n cheese or spaghetti and some peach slices cut up in little chunks, (he loved those). Hope it helps!

My daughter was about that age when we started giving more table food and eventually stopped the jar food. Basically, there are many things you can give him, as long as they are in very small pieces. I buy frozen cheese raviolis, and just cook a few at a time, they take about three minutes and they are very soft. You can do baked potato (sweet or regular) in the microwave, pasta, rice, green beans. I am kind of in the same situation, I pack my daughter's food for the sitter each day. A lot of times I send leftovers from the dinner the night before. She gets grilled cheese sometimes ( I make it in the morning), mac and cheese ocassionally. Grapes cut into eighths, diced carrots, I don't know if it's too soon for your son, but my daughter loves string cheese cut into little pieces. Meatballs are another quick easy thing you can send. Sorry if this goes on to long. I hope it helps. I am a first time mom as well, and still learning what works and what doesn't. Best of luck. :)

C., you should try potpies. Now a days you can heat them in the microwave, and it is a complete meal. Also I give my son the toasters scrambles for breakfast and he love them(they come in a variety of favorites).

How about instant mashed potatoes, (or regular mashed, if you have time!); instant cream of wheat diluted with a little milk; cooked and mashed carrots; microwaveable pancakes; pasta cooked very soft and cut into very small pieces with a little tomato sauce...
If he likes what you are eating, maybe you could mash and prep a little plate of food for him from the evening before that could be microwaved at the babysitters...

My son, now 15 months, was the same way! Luckly he had enough teeth to eat table food!
At 9 months I gave him everything we ate, i would suggest the Gerber toddler meals for the baby sitter's house. The pasta pick ups are great(cut in half) and the other meals have enough consistency to satisfy their new desires :)
i would also make him elbow macarroni w/butter or cheese...soups are also great. There are a few great cook books for babies at Barnes and Noble that you can get some ideas from as well!!!
Hope this was helpful!
