My mom is amazing and does so much for me and everyone who crosses her path! So I want to have a birthday party for her 60th! So far we have a place, and a few ideas. I, along with a couple of other people are going to fix chili for everyone. I plan to ask everyone to bring a side dish to share. I have someone bringing corn bread, salad, fruit tray, veggie tray, and I'm fixing a big sheet cake.

What side dishes go well with chili?

What can I do next?

Maybe some people could bring crock pots of different kinds of soups for people who don't like chili or to just add some variety. I went to a soup potluck last year for an informal holiday party and really enjoyed it. There was such variety! Just make sure you have plenty of bowls.

You might want to have a meat and cheese tray with bread and condiments so people can have sandwiches.

I think you've already got the best side dishes. Have plenty of toppings to add to the chili like cheese and sour cream. Tortlla chips for dipping would also be good.

A "chili bar" is a great way to do chili-beside the chili you can have add-ins, like tamales, noodles for chili mac, tortilla or corn chips, cheese, jalapenos, sour cream, baked potaoes, hot dogs, chopped onions, just to name a few!
