Hello, I am having some chronic " falling asleep " leg symptoms.
it doesn't matter if I sit down for 5 minutes.... My leg will get that really uncomfortable " falling asleep " feeling.
Sometimes at night if I am holding a book or my phone my arms will do it as well.

However.... The leg issues happen almost every day...
It comes in short burst lasting 5 minutes or so and then it is gone.
If I try to stand on it.. its really painful for a second..

Any idea what this could be?

What can I do next?

Could be diabetes, but I have this and I am not diabetic or even pre-diabetic.

What you describe is often diagnosed as Paresthesia.

This can be caused by poor circulation or by nerve damage. It can be improved with medication (mine is), but you may not like the side effects and some people find that they quickly have to drive up the dosage.

Might be a nerve issue in your neck. Neurologist should be your first stop (or your primary care if you need a referral). Good luck!

I would think you might have a circulatory and/or neurological problem.
Make an appointment with a neurologist and have it checked out.

Make an appointment with your primary doctor and run your symptoms by him/her. It could be nothing or something serious. If it's something that needs to be investigated then your doctor will be able to make appointments and get you in to see other specialists quickly.

It could be a number of issues... since it is happening with both your feet AND your legs, you really need to have it checked out by your doctor.

As far as your arms, there are several possiblities... my hands fall asleep frequently... I have carpal tunnel issues with both hands, as well as cubital tunnel problems. The cubital tunnel problem is with my elbows... so when I bend my arms, like when talking on the phone, holding a book, writing for very long, things like that, my hand falls asleep, also.

Basically, as someone else pointed out, something is compressing the nerve at certain points. You need to find out what that is, and why.

You definitely need to start with your PCP doctor, who will examine you and help you figure out the next steps and possible specialists depending on what the possible causes could be. Since it could be a few different things, you may have to go through a few different types of specialists and several tests to rule out different things.

Hopefully you can figure it out quickly, and it's something simple.

Like others mention, you could have a nerve issue. A friend had this feeling in her toes and fingers and she was tested positive for diabetes. The doc said this could be a symptom, but she also had other things going on. Get an apt and try to write down when and how it happens--where exactly if you can so you can show the doc how often it is happening.

I agree, you should check in with your doctor on this one. You could have a pinched nerve.
