My daughter just turned 4 (last week). For her birthday my Mom bought EVERYTHING on the list I provided her as the Christmas and birthday idea list.
She's told me she wants to "cut back" on gifting, and wants to get each of the kids one bigger gift and several small ones rather than the giant piles of stuff she usually gets them every year. Yahoo!!!
So - for my boys I have big gift ideas (camera, boombox)... but I'm struggling for my daughter. As the third child, we already have a kitchen, train table, and she's been handed down or gifted a doll house (loving family) and a ton of "baby care" accessories. The only thing she is asking for is a "baby with a pacifier she can take in and out" which is what Santa is bringing.
My question is - what "big" item would you get a 4 year old girl who "has everything?" We are not a "techy" family, and we don't do Wii or DS or Ipods... so those items are not an option.
ANY ideas are greatly appreciated!!!

Oh - and in my family - a big gift is about $100. :) Physical size is not important, my Mom just wants to even everything out.

Okay so thiss is for a big gift?
One of those big pink Jeeps you drive? You might be able to find one on Craigslist or a thrift store as they are more than $100.
A house she can go into & play. Again, maybe find one second hand to fit the $100.
Swing set?
How about a membership to a nearby science center, kids museum, or zoo? I love it when my family does that for us!

A new bike! :) Unless she has one...
American girl doll and accesories for sure.
my father bought my daughter a silver cross pram to put her baby doll in a few years ago and she still loves it and the doll she take to bed every night even though shes now 11 and she rememebrs it being given a few years ago
I agree with Jackie. My 4 year old asked for a radio with a microphone when she was two. I found a fisher price mp3 player on the Internet that is this generations version of ours with the mic and tape deck. It's still her favorite toy. I downloaded about 25 songs (nursery rhymes and a few pop) once and she's never requested more.
Try looking at educational toys like stompers. Sometimes the simple stuff is best.
I'm getting my daughter a tablet. I limit their time on gadgets, but feel they should be used to tech. And I would like to stop sharing my iPad.
Does she like music? We got my daughter a CD player when she was 4, it looks like Cinderella’s carriage and she can sing along in the microphone. She also has quite a few kids CD's to listen to on it.
If she doesn’t already have them then how about a baby stroller and other accessories for her baby dolls (high chair, crib, etc.)
A toboggan, bike or a membership for the zoo or museum.
I was thinking a membership to a zoo or museum. Although I did just get my girls an EZ fort from zuiliy. it was 1/2 off so like $30. It looks pretty fun! I am excited for it.
I don't know about 'big ticket item' but my 4y/o desperately wants a 'dreamlight' puppy dog!
She also is in LOVE with Butterscotch the moveable pony but I am not spending $100 on that, when she already has the FurReal Dog!
How about a promise to take her to see Disney on Ice or some other fun/girly show that your sons wouldn't want to see? Good luck! That's so wonderful that your mom wants to cut back on the giant piles of stuff!
how about a desk for her room? something that she can use now for coloring but she can use for homework as she gets older? or a comfy chair for her room. my kids all have chairs in their rooms. not kitchen table kind and not recliners just puffy chairs they can kick back or curl up in to read
FP Smart Cycle. It does plug into the TV, but I wouldn't say it is techy. They ride it and select their automobile style and then play alphabet and spelling games.
Does she have a vanity and stool. I bought my daughter one from the Disney store that she loved for years.
