I would take her to the dentist right away-dental hygiene or the lack thereof, affects the heart
My daughter came up to me and said her mouth hurts. My first thought was cavities.About 10 min ago,i checking her teeth (after she brushes)And i noticed a little black dot.It was swollen and bright bright red.I asked sweety does you side of the mouth hurt ,she then pointed to the side where i found it.She cant really close her mouth before, but now she can close it and she says the pain is gone.Should i still get it checked out? EDIT:She has been eating seeds and i think thats the problem...she will gargle salt water tommorow, shes asleep right now

I suggest that she had bitten her cheek and the swelling has gone down. The black spot Iis likely to have been a blood blister. If the spot doesn't go away in a week or so I'd call the doctor.
This could be a mouth sore or a canker sore. They usually heal on their own. I've scratched or jabbed the inside of my mouth, gums, cheek, floor with sharp food such as crackers and had it hurt for a few hours.
Later. Where is the spot? What is swollen? Her gum? The soft tissue that is the floor of the mouth or the inside od her cheek?
Could it be possible it was a seed? What did she eat before she told you her mouth hurt?
Yes, take her to get it it at least checked on. If it is a cavity or abcess, it will get worse. The black dot could be a hole, possibly larger than you think, where any carby food-starches, or sugars will totally go bananas in there and make it worse. I hope all goes well. Blessings, momma!
I would also suggest a blood blister. I get them now and then from accidentally biting my cheek. It can be very painful, since after the initial accidental bite the tissue swells, making it mor likely that you bite it again and again, causing additional trauma to the tissue.
If your daughter is old enough to swish around some mouthwash I would have her do that - it will help heal faster.
If it is very sore let her have soft food for a day or so. That will cut down on re-injury.
Lastly I would take her in if it isn't better in 2 days.
Good luck.
