Please think about what your daughter likes. Sit down w/her, ask her and listen. If she doesn't like cake, why not think of something else? One of my stepsons doesn't like cake either, but he loves chocolate chip cookies. So I got some choc chip cookie dough and wrote a huge "16" on the cookie sheet and baked it that way. He LOVED it. Instead of cake he got a huge "16" choc chip cookie. Also, my stepson just wanted a regular party with just family. So that's what we did. For a present we gave him what he wanted which was a game for his computer. He was really happy w/everything and even though we didn't have a huge birthday smash, it was memorable to all of us.

if you have a cake with her picture on it, somebody has to bite her head off. and cut her up. maybe a nice posterboard with a collage of pictures displayed near the cake would be nice.

i don't like cake either. for my birthdays i've had brownies, ice cream cakes, apple pie, cheesecake, etc. seriously, don't get her a fancy expensive cake if she doesn't like it. she won't appreciate it, and your money would be better spent some other way.

ask her best friend to help you plan it. she'll have some good ideas of what would be fun for your daughter and her friends.

I agree with the others- if she doesn't like cake, don't get her one. Consider what she wants.

It won't hurt to give her suggestions or ask her what she wants. You could make dinner for her and a couple of her friends (or they could make it themselves); could have a "spa night" where they give each other facials/manicures or pedicures, or make-up makeovers. Even "dinner and a movie night" so they can watch a movie.

There are giant cookies that you could get instead of a cake; or one of those "edible arrangements" with fruit (where they carve a basket out of a watermelon, and then fill it with melon-balls, strawberries, etc. or make an arrengement out of fruit that resembles a flower-pot).

My parents gave my sisters and I on our respective 16th birthdays a pair of earings with our birthstones. Not a car, but it was really nice!

FOr what it's worth - and good luck!

Maybe a Skating Party. A trip to a place with a pool for a pool party. Going to a beach area and setting up something small, maybe even a campfire..as some beaches will allow.

Birthday cake with photos as before and after and collage are great. I have done. But you dont want the pics to be embarrassing. Let her pick out some, just go through pics one day and ask her which ones she likes.

Think about what your daughter would like. If she doesn't like cake, don't spend a lot of money of a cake with custom pictures on it. She would probably rather have the money put in a savings account to help her get a car eventually. Even if it takes saving for 2 years, she's going to want one and the fact that you started a car fund will be memorable. Just think of a cute way to give it to her. Maybe a toy car, a nice note, pretend key, etc. I would even suggest that people who are planning on attending her party, give her cash towards her car savings account. Even if they give five or ten dollars, it's the idea that you're helping her get started. Maybe you could stencil out a picture of a car on paper, then cut it up into parts, and everyone who gives some cash, gives a part of the car. Of course, don't give her all the parts! Some have to be missing to symbolize she's saving for the rest of it.
