My Daughter Has a Rash

My 7 month old daughter has always had very sensitive skin, I have found using Aveeno CREAM, not the lotion, the CREAM really works great w/her.

It sounds like eczema which both of my kids have. My daughter's worst areas have been the back of her knees and the inside of her elbows. Ask your pediatrician to be sure, and they can give you a prescription for cream to clear it up. We have tried different ones, but the cream we are using now is called Desonide. Also my daughter has been in a couple of eczema studies at University Dermatology where they provide free product and pay you for participating in the study. When my 5-year-old was a baby, our doctor told us to only bathe her every 3-4 days to avoid drying her skin out too much. Now they're saying to bathe them every day, but I still only bathe my kids every 3-4 days! Hope this helps.

It could be psoriasis or eczema. I also would recommend Arbonne - their diaper rash cream works on lots of stuff. I would make sure to mention it to your pediatrician and they can recommend the right kind of cream or ointment and how to avoid irritating it if that's what it is. Hydrocortisone usually relieves the itch and reduces the inflammation. Again, check with her Dr.

It could possibly be eczema. My son had it very young and has very dry skin. He would get tiny red bumps in his elbow crease, back of the knee, neck and other areas of his body. They prescribed a medication for it, but you would have to get that checked by your doctor. Just for reference we do not use scented soap for washing nor do we use dryer sheets. We also use aveeno soap for bath time. When he was an infant certain foods that were introduced to him flared up his eczema so we had to be careful with that as well. This may be what your daughter has, but again you would have to get checked by the doctor. My son is three now and it does not seem nearly as bad as it once was so I am hoping it is starting to go away a little bit! Good luck with whatever it is.

My son struggles with the dry skin thing too. It is probably eczema. You might want to try using Eucerine Calming Cream. It seems to really help. I have also stopped doing the bath every night too and it seems to be under control. You could also ask your doctor if it is okay to use a little Cortaid on the really itchy spots. Hope it works!

I use Cortizone 10 on my daughters little rashes that she gets on her arms and back.

My daughter is 11 and still has trouble with dry skin during the winter (so do I). We use Cetaphil, you can buy it at drug stores or places like Walmart. It can be used as both a soap in the tub and as lotion after the bath. My old doctor told me about it when I was younger and having problems with dry, itchy skin. Now my daughter and I both use it and it realy helps.

My 2 1/2 year old son has the same thing happen to him every winter. He just gets really bad patches of dry skin on his lower back, back of knees and arms. I limit him to baths every other night. I use Aquaphor Advanced therapy healing ointment. It is the BEST thing. I put it on the dry patches after his bath and by the next morning it is already looking 100 times better. Before I started using this my son would scratch his lower back alot, but this has helped so much. Hope it clears up!!

I agree it sounds like excema. I have it and so does my youngest, as well as my 7 yr old niece. I agree that Arbonne healed it up for all three of us. My son has and has had since birth the exact same thing on him in mostly the same spots. He never acted like it bothered him until he was old enough to talk and tell me that it hurt him. I took him to a dermatogolist and they told me they wanted me to try Eucrin Original Moisturizing creme. It is a tub and it cost me about 10.00 for the tub. They also told me to NEVER use anything that is in a pump bottle because it has alchol in it to thin it out and it will BURN their skin. I really like the product alot and I have started using it on my own dry skin. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

sounds like a little bit of ecezma (sp). My son gets it quite often especially during the winter months. Try not to bath her everyday during the winter months. If she needs a bath everyday then don't let her soak in the tub. I use Eurercin or Aquaphor lotion on him, works like a charm.

It sounds like eczema. My 11 month old has had the same problem since he was born. I have tried several products and have found that Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream works the best. It comes in a 4 oz tube that is packaged in a box with baby pooh and piglet on it. It seems to work best if I put it on him right after his bath then dress him as it can be a little greasy, but that goes away in just a couple minutes as it soaks in. I have found that it works best for a baby as it is scent free made for babies. I have found it at Rite Aid and Kroger, and it doesnt cost as much as some that I tried.

Hi, it does sound like ecxema. Arbonne has a great baby line that will help to take that away. My son has had this spot on the back of his knee on and off since he was born 2 years ago also. He was diagnoised with having eczema, which is kinda like a severe case of dry skin. The doctor prescribed him a steroid cream and that helped him alot. Hope this helps you.

My daughter has had the same kind of thing since she was about 4 months old. My doc told me to put hydrocortisone on it. Get the 1% only, i use the aveno but u can get any brand. I would put it on her after a bath. My doc also said only use it for a week then go to lotion the next. hope this helps good luck.

It sounds like eczema, which is just very dry skin that can be itchy. My son has it too. A humidifier in her room at night can help. You should also use non-scented lotion after baths, it doesn't necesarrily have to be eczema cream. If it's severe, you can also get prescription cream from your pediatrician. However, ours gave us cortisone, and the side effects were really scary so I didn't really use it.

Hi J.. Sounds like exzema to me, my son has it. His Dr. told us to use Aquaphor a few times a day. On the really red spots to use cortizone cream twice a day. Depending on the severity of it, they do have prescriptions that can be useful. I had one for Elidel but was concerned about the link to cancer and stopped using it. Weather that has been disproven, I don't know. I' msure that there has to be something they can use though, if the rash is not responding to OTC methods. Hope I've helped in some way.
