Do they make "boy short" type undies? I found some online for myself and they are SO COMFORTABLE. I put all my regular undies away!
My four yr old has been pulling at her panties for a while and now she doesnt like to wear pants! I asked the dr about it he said not to bathe her everyday and on days that I dont I need to wash her down atleast to keep that area clean. I have done everything but she still always seems irritated. Now she will take her panties off and turn them around backwards so the bigger part is in the front. I dont know why she is doing this or how to stop it! any ideas??

I agree to wash the panties in hot and maybe don't use fabric softener. You could also try using free and clear detergent. Lots of companies make it so pick one you like. We use All b/c it's super mild and also very reasonably priced! Also, you can slather some vaseline on her vagina if it looks red and/or irritated. It won't hurt her at all and doesn't irritate but keeps it moisturized, so try that. It just sounds like maybe the panties are chafing her or she's dry. It is a problem, but doesn't sound too major so try some simple solutions before going back to the doctor! Good luck, poor kiddo!
First of all, she is doing this because she is miserable. That is fairly obvious. If the Dr. didn't give you a diagnosis, then switch doctors or at least get a second opinion. Pick a sympathetic female Dr.
It would have helped if you gave us the diagnosis in your question. How about a second from a dermatologist or a pediatric allergist? Sometimes little girls have big girl problems particularly if they drink juice or cola and eat sweets on a daily basis. Sounds like yeast to me. Rubbing Monistat feminine cream on her skin might help. It certainly can't hurt and it is over the counter. Gold's Bond powder is for yeast. Get it at a pharmacy. Aloe Vera gel is good too for healing redness (the type you drink or the plant.)
That is just inexcusable for a child to be in such misery and a doctor not even try to help.
If these are signs of yeast infection, Consumption of yogurt daily might be a good idea.
Are you buying her the bikini type underwear? If so maybe the elastic in the leg is bothering her, maybe you should try and buy her the underwear that is not that type but, the full size. Type as the saying goes like the grannie panties and see if she does the same thing to them as with the bikini ones. If she don't then you know now it was the underwear if not then you should take her again to see her or ask her yourself why she does it and what you can do to help her feel better of herself.
Has she developed a latex allergy? You might have them test for that. I had a lot of problems with my latex allergy that was not diagnosed until I was in my 20s when I had a reaction to my dentist's latex gloves.
I recommend panties that have cotton waist bands and, like the other lady posted, vaseline to soothe the area.

Maybe her undies are too small or you should just try another brand.
i like the ideas already mentioned. but if the problem still persists, she could possibly have a yeast infection. my 3 year old son had one recently.
Try running her underpants in a cycle of hot, extra rinse and no detergent. It may be that she's got an allergy to the detergent. This might help.
Poor thing! All these ideas seem like great ones. Since the problem does not seem to have gone away, I would bring her back to the pediatrician. My daughter had a yeast infection when she was a baby and the doctor prescribed a type of powder. It worked (that was over 8 years ago). You could also give her children's acidolphilis, especially if she is put on antibiotics.. They come in chewable forms and powers to mix in her drink (but make sure she drinks it all). This will help put the good bacteria back into her system. Yogurt is also helpful. You could also try A&D ointment. If it is not an infection, then maybe her little underpants are truly bothering her.
I hope she feels better soon!
Poor baby. Its bad enough to be an adult with a YI, much less a 4 yr old. In addition to the other suggestions, make sure she's wearing 100% cotton undies, and maybe let her sleep with them off so her body can breathe. Watch what foods she's eating too. She might have some kind of food intolerance (wheats, dairy, sugars) which might drive YI. And make sure she's wiping front to back.
