I agree you should get it checked out.
My clavicle (collarbone), on the right side has been giving me grief for over a week. At first I thought maybe I had a tight muscle or something from being hunched over the computer all the time, but now I'm wondering what the heck I've really done. The best way to describe it is that the actual BONE hurts, kind of right where it connects to the shoulder. I've tried stretching, hot/cold compresses, hot showers, icy hot... nothing's helping. I'm notorious for breaking bones and not knowing it (awesome, right? Hello super high tolerance for pain)... and since it's been hurting for so long, I'm starting to get a bit worried. It doesn't hurt to move my arm, but when I go to sit up straight, arms at my sides, it KILLS me. What the heck? Any thoughts? Has anyone had a similar pain? What did it end up being?
There's no lump, and I can't recall sleeping funny (usually my neck takes the brunt of that), or lifting anything heavy, no serious rough housing... grrr, I don't want to spend the money on going to the doctor, but... I don't know! How much longer can I put this off? LOL ;) I'm half serious...
I agree you should get it checked out.
.
Were you carrying heavy bags a lot? I know what kind of baggage 3 kids comes with and its not light. Maybe you slept wrong?
Mine was a torn rotator cup. If my wife massaged it it would feel better for a while. But I couldn't lift my elbow higher than my shoulder.
I went to the gym (LA Fitness) and "lifted weights" that caused my arm to rise to my shoulder, even if my other arm are did most of the work.
Then I went to their lap pool and walked in the water with some water weights. They floated. keeping my arms up. Then each step forward, I would push the weight out and bring it back as my foot went back. I'd do half a mile like this and then go put my arm under water in the hot tub. Then I'd get out and do another half mike and put my shouder in the hot tub again. By the time I did this for a week, my arm was feeling MUCH BETTER.
Good luck to you and yours.
I think it might be time to see the doctor.
maybe you have tendonitis.. the tendons attach all over the place as you know and I know when I had severe tendonitis (used to be on a computer ALL day) my collarbone was a place that was also VERY sore.. In addition, the pain ran across to my shoulder and down my arm and up my neck.. Icy hot and all those external medications did very little. That which helped the most was massage and of course, no longer working on a computer 8 to 10 hrs a day.. can you try massage and see IF that helps somewhat? also.. it's one thing to stretch the affected area, which I think is a great idea, but bare in mind, nerves run down our legs and up to our arms and backs.. therefore, also try and stand up from your computer and stretch out ALL of your body.. I found that to be helpful as well.
best of luck
Could be the muscle and ligaments that connect the collar bone to the sternum/rib cage and the scapula/upper arm. Going to the Dr looks to be a good idea ;)
