I know that newborns going through withdrawal symptoms do a lot of stretching, not sure why your 7 yr old is having this problem. It could be growing pains. Seems like we've talked a lot about growing pains here of late.
Call her ped's office and talk to a nurse, they might be able to give you some insight on what it means to get the stretches.

If is growing pains, lots of strenuous activity (like jumping and running hard) can exacerbate it. Where the muscle tissues attach to the bones is stretched tight, when they are having growing pains. It can take a few days for the muscles/tendons to grow and stretch enough to connect comfortably. And forceful impact (like with running, or jumping) pounds on those joints/muscles.

The best thing for growing pains, is soaking in warm baths (relaxes the muscles) and taking an anti-imflammatory like advil (check with her doctor for what to give and a proper dosage).

Growing pains come and go. Especially from ages 6/7 to about 10. Usually, it is bothersome for a day or two at a time, and often at night, when the child has been active that day.

My five and seven year olds get growing pains now and then at night. I started giving them multivitamins to help with their magnesium and comfort levels. It seems to be working. I remember having growing pains when I was a child - can be quite uncomfortable!

Welcome to mamapedia.

This is normal. She is going through a growing spurt. Encourage the stretching. She may also be more hungry, may need a lot more sleep, allow her to sleep as long as she needs.

Make sure she is getting a lot of exersicing right now. Swimming, biking, running. All of this will allow her to reach her potential I growth.

She may even start getting a few aches and pains.sometimes they grow so quickly their bodies will have pains in certain areas.

Tell her about these growing signs so she will understand what is happening.

Do you have a place in your home were you are marking and dating her height? We have the one for our daughter on her bedroom doorframe. Fun to se how quickly she grew some years.

If you are talking about growing pains, it can happen.

Make sure she's getting enough calcium; my sister used to get horrible leg pain when she was growing and calcium helped. Talk to your pediatrician about a proper dose. You can also give her a little bit of pain reliever to help (motrin, tylenol) , so that she can sleep.

Is she on medication of some kind? Sometimes that can be a factor.

Talk to your ped about it.
