How do you know he's losing weight? Do you weigh him on baby scales? I suggest that you find a pediatrician and then arrange to take him in to be weighed once a week. Losing weight is indication of a possible problem. By having the office do the weighing the pediatrician will take you more seriously.

Babies do sometimes spit up after eating, especially if they drink too much. Does the spit up look milky at all. If so, I suggest this could be normal.

You need to take him several times to the same pediatrician so that they can see his progress or lack of progress. Just one visit doesn't usually get a diagnosis and treatment.

And the ER is only for emergencies. They will not be able to treat a chronic condition. An emergency is when the condition is possibly life threatening.

With a newborn, i would not hesitate to take him to see a pediatric gastroenterologist.

This could be any number of things. please do not hesitate....

Does he wease when he breathes? If he does, it could be Reactive Airway Disease, a precursor to asthma.

The thing is, he is mighty young for this. However, it's something to ask.

The ER docs aren't really good at figuring out puzzles like this. If there is a children's hospital in your area, find a ped there.

Good luck,
Dawn

vomiting in babies is absolutely normal. both of my kids puked every single day... however they did not loose weight. how much weight has he lost? except for the few ounces they loose the first day or so they are born.. babies should not loose weight.. they should be growing and gaining.. see another dr if the baby has lost more than an ounce.

Allergies are a definite possibility. Then again babies have very immature digestive systems. I would definitely see a pediatrician to get some peace of mind.
