Molly has been sick for about 4-5 days with a viral cold, and has developed laryngitis. Now for the past two days she won't eat her baby food, only her bottles. Is this normal?

So What Happened?

Molly ate today! Some sweet potatoes and bananas. I am so relieved. Thank youall for the advice. You were right! She ate when she was ready. She also talked today for the first time, I love to hear the baby babble.

When my son was 8 months old, he cought the Coxsackie virus which is caused lesions in his throat. He too did not eat any solids for several days - only his bottle. Molly's throat probably hurts and anything more than liquid hurts it even more. As long as she is getting enough food, its ok that its only liquid form.

I hope Molly feels better soon.

I think she'll be fine. As long as she is drinking fluids then she is not dehydrated and that is the most important thing. Whenever my daughter was sick and I called the doctors they would say is she getting fluid and if she was they said not to worry . ... If she is still not eating in a week or so I would just call her doctor for a follow up just to make sure that she is improving ...but just make sure she is getting fluid my daughter got the flu when she was a year old and wouldnt drink anything and ended up in the hospital on IV for about 5 days ... so if you see signs of her having dry diapers or refusing to drink bring her to the hsopital or doctors but otherwise shell get through this :) Good luck ...I hope she is feeling better soon :)

Greeting D.,

My name is N. and I am a holistic child care provider and have been trained through the ANN Wigmore institute for health & wellness. My philosophy towards childrens health is a bit different from most, although my parents get great results from it. When a baby wellbeing is challenge I often ask the parent what is going on emotionally with the parents. When a baby is diagnosed with laryngitis, I ask parents what is in their life that they are not speaking up about. It could be someone whom you love or your boss that needs to be said or a friend. remember your child and you are the same energy, so what ever e-motions that we may experience they are too.
When children have laryngitis in my care I usually give them lot of liquids and for infants as well for at least a week along with wheatgrass to sooth and heal the swelling of their throat. Around the second week they feel better and are able to eat solids again. I hope this information find you peace and success. If you need any further information feel free to contact me.

peace and love

N.
