Highly recommend it. My baby is 11 months old tommorrow. She can look at the word "mama" or "daddy" and read the word out loud. If you give her two cards with words, and ask her to pick a certain word out of the two she is beginning to get many right. She loves it!! Loves the books, cards, video, basically all of it. She thinks its fun. When you call the number they will let you pay it in installments too. My baby started it at 3 months old.

you haven't received many responses but I have found that the people who have responded to other similar posts who would say "don't get it and waste your money" actually have not tried it.
I would highly recommend it. It does work. It is educational. It is FUN. It is entertaining. I think there are concerns that it is pushing your child to early but this is a misconception. It simply appeals to all the senses and the specific ways that babies learn. Their language center is developing at a rapid pace in early life. This is why it is so easy for little ones to learn a second language and be bilingual. It would only make sense that while this developement is occuring it would be the prime time to learn written language.
It is also entertaining and fun for my little guy.HE will aks to read the books and watch the DVDs. If I ha da choice between setting him down in front of a cartoon or in front of one of these educational DVDs it is a no-brainer!
The starter pack has plenty to work with and then you can add to it later. It also has a money back guarantee so if you don't like it just send it back.

I actually do think that it works. My daughter has been watching them since she was 3 months old and loves to watch the videos. AND she LOVES the books and flash cards even more!! They are the only books right now that she wants to read and will sit all the way through. She does have recognition of at least 10 words and she is only 15 months. I think that it is worth it even if it is giving your child an appreciation of learning and reading!!

Please don't waste your money! If you read to your child, pointing out the words as you go, and read some VERY simple books with big letters so the child can pick up sounds and shapes, he or she will read it due time.

Yes and we love it! I purchased the "Your Baby Can Read" starter series a few months ago. I am using the series of DVD's, books, and flash cards with my 1 year old daughter and 5 year old son. They are both benefiting from it! It is helping my daughter learn how to talk and recognize pictures and greatly helping my son learn how to read (he started kindergarten this year). I strongly recommend it and believe it is worth the money! It did take about a month of watching the word videos (which I now substitute for cartoons) for them to become interested and start to pay attention but now my son asks to watch them in the afternoon while he's eating a snack!!

L.,
We have had the set for 9 months (baby is 18 months), and it "works' as well as any other reading tool that you use consistently.
Cindy D said that her daughter likes the vidoes- my son doesn't like them and walks away. I am grateful for that because they look like they were produced in a garage studio and are irritating (what kid video isn't, I know).
My son LOVES the learning cards and the books. He is WEARING them out! He loves to point to the words, and chooses those books over any of the others in the pile. He does't seem to "read" any words, but I am not worried. He is interested in books and words, which is really important .
I think it was worth the money.

I very much recommend it! My son has been watching them since about 3-4 months and he just turned 2 in september. He still loves them. Also loves the slide out word cards. I definitely think it was worth the money. I also agree that anyone who says not to get it and its not worth the money obviously hasnt used it. My sons face lights up everytime I put the dvds on. Its very educational with words, colors, shapes etc. The younger they start on them the better it is too.

I bought it for my daughter. I do suggest to play it for your child just as it says on the video. I sometimes don't have time to play it for her, but with the little that she has scene it she does recognize the words and actually does what it says. Like when the word comes up and says Nose she will point to her nose, and so on n so forth. So I don't think its a waste personally, my daughter loves to watch them and I praise her when she does what the video says, and she loves that. Its like a stepping stone to learn new things.

i know people who have done it, and really say it works.
My husband recently bought "Hooked on phonics" and my son, now almost 2.5 BEGS to listen to the cd's...songs about letter recognition and sounds...he knows all the alphabet and sounds though. Word World is a show he LOVES...PBS at 1:00, it is super cute and i think really helped w/ his learning. I am a former educator and not a fan of plopping him in front of a tv, but those are 2 things that i don't mind having in the background! they even have Word World DVD's at target and walmart. I will be interested to see their effects on his younger brother (now 10 months).
anyway, may be cheaper than the whole reading set.

Ok I bought it for my DS 3yrs old. When I first decided to get it my son was all into learning & then we hit a wall. He don't want to learn anything right now, but I am still glad that we got it. He has learned like 10 words from it & that's just watching it once a day for about 10 mins. So yes it is worth it. I would also suggest that you look into getting the Leap Frog DVD's too. You can get them on Amazon pretty cheap. Get the Your Baby Can Read from craigslist. It is cheaper. You don't get as much things with it, but it has the basics that you do need.
