So im at 35 weeks, and my hands, mainly knuckles, have become so stiff! Its hard to make a fist even! Im assuming it will go away after the birth, but wondering if anyone else was experiencing this.
thx!
PS- normal blood pressure, doc doesnt seem worried about it.

What can I do next?

Mine was a little different. I experienced bad carpel tunnel syndrome. Apparently I always had CTS but never showed symptoms until my first pregnancy. It went away about 3 months after giving birth. I never had the same experience with my second child.

I had carpal tunnel with all of my pregnancies and had to wear wrist braces to sleep because they ached so bad… my hands did swell but I could always make a fist
I would bring it up at the next visit :)

and it did go away after I had my babies
(and when I dont type toooo much)

i also had this problem due to swelling...make sure you get your blood pressure checked...but at this point unless its severe you prolly just have to wait till you deliver...

I had swelling of my feet and hands (with normal BP too) during my 2nd pregnancy (born late August). It's the heat. You are probably sweating out a lot of fluids and leaving behind toxins in your joints. Even if you are not sweating very hard, you are still losing fluids through your skin.

Drink more fluids. Clear: water, apple juice, white grape juice, etc. This will help to "flush" your body of any toxins that may be settling in your joints.

Congrats and keep cool.

Blessings,

I had that problem with both pregnancies. Mine was swelling associated with my blood pressure getting a bit on the high side. I didn't have preeclampsia but I was headed that direction. You may want to call your OB's office, you can probably talk to the nurse.

Hope everything is OK.

If it is swelling try some cantaloupe and cucumbers, they are natural diuretics. They really help getting the fluid back in your blood stream and not in your joints and tissue. Just realize as much as your are going to the bathroom, it may get worse. But I would definitely have the OB keep checking on it.

Have you contacted your OB about this?

It does not sound normal, but I could be wrong. I had pre-eclampsia and swelled up pretty bad but never to the point of not being able to move or make a fist.

Definitely contact your OB if you have not already.

I got really bad carpal tunnel when I was PG - my fingers would go numb while I was sleeping and ache during the day. I got wrist braces from the drug store and that really helped. And it did go away after I had my baby - thank God!!! Check with your ob/gyn just to make sure - but sounds like it's probably the same thing I had. Good luck!
