He could be dehydrated. Have him drink some water before bed and a nice big glass when he wakes up. Sometimes that is all it takes!
Good Luck!

Headaches could be from tension... maybe family or school problems bringing on stress? My niece used to fake headaches to get out of going to school or to get attention from her parents. Don't panic, just ask a doc. It's highly doubtful a tumor is causing the headaches.
Ask him the severity of his headaches, does he ever vomit with them? Ask them where the headaches are located. I wake up with eye headaches and they think its due to dry eyes so i got some lubricated eye drops i just got them today so i hope they work. He may need glasses, a new pillow. Is he stressed out? There are many factors that can trigger headaches and I really wouldnt worry about a tumor unless you notice other weird abnormal behaviors ( I cant say what those are since you know him best) or if they make him vomit you may need to seek other advice.
it sounds like he is grinding her teeth during the night which can cause morning headaches. I know things can seem scary but try the dentist first then if that doesn't help check further........better to know that not
Do you not qualify for government insurance? I believe you should. I think their policy is to insure children, no matter the income. You might have to pay a small co-pay, but the bulk of the bill would be covered. Contact your local Job and Family Services and ask them about Medicaid. Also, if you're not insured, a lot of hospitals will work with you on billing. All you have to do is ask. They'll set up payments for the service. I've never heard of them asking to have it all paid for up front. Hit the phones first thing in the morning. Your son needs insurance.
The headaches could very well be related to his tonsils or sinuses.
Hopefully as the others have suggested it's just dehydration, especially with the summer heat. As for health insurance, if you're working and don't qualify for medical, there's a great program called Healthy Families. Very low co-pay and accepted almost anywhere. Kaiser also has a special program for children without insurance - income based
Good luck
Why don't you get IEHP or some other low cost health plan? It will be cheaper than a loan payment each month. Google low cost health insurance for kids and even go on the state's web page and see what they have to offer. For under $100 a month he could have full coverage. Good luck!
1- I think that you should get in contact with a help agency like WIC so you can get your son some insurance. Even if you can't afford it, they will be able to help you get some for him so you won't have to worry as much.
2) I would try to make sure he gets enough fluids before bed. Also sometimes if a child sleeps for a long time, low blood sugar (from not eating for awhile) can cause headaches.
Make sure he eats/drinks enough for dinner or right before bed, and if he gets a headache in the morning then give him some fluids and food and see if it helps.
Probably not a tumor since its only happening in the morning. :)
I am guessing it is as simple as being dehydrated- which is the most common cause of headaches. He's probably getting them in the morning because he hasn't had any fluids throughout the night. I'd try having him drink a big glass of water with breakfast (or as soon as he wakes up) and see if that helps. Also, it's possible he isn't drinking enough during the entire day prior and that's why the headaches turn up in the morning.
It could possibly be sinus headaches. I know the last 3 weeks or so I have been waking up with a headache every morning. Even though I don't have many other sinus issues, I know that they are sinus headaches and just come with the season. You could always try taking him into a Minute Clinic or Take Care Health clinic. They usually run less than $100 a visit without insurance. They might be able to give him something that helps. Good luck!!
there is some kind of allergy thing going around i had headaches for about a week..right over my eye..it could be a sinus thing..also are u having him sleep with a fan on or anything that could dry out his sinuses? see if a child type antihistamine would work..i had to use sudafed a few days to make it go away..or does your child go on the computer play any video games? i get a raging headache when i play video games like spore..or perhaps eyesight is changing? also are you wearing perfume around him? i had a headache for 2 years ..turned out i was allergic to my perfume..it was also making me super tired...and last but not least..
he could be grinding or clenching his teeth when he sleeps which leads to ..headaches..
good luck i hope its nothing serious..there are many other things besides a tumor it could be..if your child doesn't have a bleeding problem..perhaps google "serrapeptase" when i was having the headaches this was the only thing that helped besides relaxation yoga..
u can get it at vitacost.com for around $13 and if u go through ebates.com u can get it a bit cheaper..its all natural ..and it gets rid of pain..but it is a blood thinner so not before any surgeries like the tonsillectomy ..be extra sweet to him when he goes through that ..i had one when i was 11 and UGH! it hurt like hell every time i swallowed which is like every 15 seconds or sooner..
good luck

Check in with your local human services department. You should qualify, or at least your child should qualify, for medicaid or another state assisted insurance program. Given the need for a tonselectomy you/he may qualify for an expedited enrollment.

Our country has a law called no child left behind that has opened up a low cost insurance for mid-low income or even homeless children. Here in California we have Medi-Cal or here in the Inland Empire it's called IEHP. Also many churches will help or contact your local rotary or elks or moose clubs they can usually help and will when its a childs life. I hope this helps and I hope it is just her tonsils.

Sometimes headaches AND chronnic tonsillitis can be becasue his upper neck isn't moving right which can cause headaches AND not allow lymph to drain. Tonsils are part of the lymph system and are first line against ingested or inhaled foreign pathogens. The tonsils themselves are more like a "check engine light" in your car. They are not responsible for problems, but rather the symptom or warning sign that you are able to see. Sometimes having them removed is like putting duct tape on your check engine light. The problem is still there, but at least you can't see it anymore, so different symptoms might start occuring sooner or later.
If he wakes up with headaches, maybe make sure he's not sleeping with any down and stop using fabric softener and double rinse the detergent? Sometimes that alone works.
You might want to save your money, for now and see if a few adjustments with a pediatric chiropractor does the trick.
Good luck!
Does he throw up? that is usually a sign of a brain tumor. Can you get Medical? or Healthy Families?
You need to try and apply for insurance coverage for your child through the State of California's insurance program for children called Healthy Families. (if you have not already done so)?
You can apply right on line at their website under Healthy Families.
Hope this helps.

you should really check into Medi-Cal and see if you qualify for free health coverage for your son.
I agree with some of the ladies here. Try Healthy Family to cover your son. And the grinding teeth could be the problem to his headaches. Some dentists have Care Credit, which you could be making very low payments each month. I had a bill of over $300 and my minimum payment was $15 a month. For a full year without interest. If you pay it off before the year you will not pay any extra money.
Have you checked into the Healthy Kids program offered by the state? It's a free insurance program for children and is pretty fantastic from what I understand.
In regards to your child's headaches, is he or she drinking enough water? Dehydration can cause headaches.
Do they go away when he eats something? Maybe it is a low blood sugar thing. I would do some research on blood sugar swings. Also, doesn't California have some insurance coverage for kids? I would look into that too.
I would try finding a chiropractor that works with children. Chiropractic care has gotten incredible results with headaches, and typically for kids, they respond relatively quickly. I would try it. Many give cash discounts. You can check out my website for more info: www.DrMelisa.com
and for a chiro in your area: www.icpa4kids.com
good luck!
You may want to get his eyes checked. Headaches are signs for needing glasses. Check out the link below.

It may be nothing. Does either you or his father's family have a history of headaches? My father had headaches and i have had them as long as i remember. Its a hereditary thing that had ran in my family for generations. Its a bother but its not life threatening. when you can you should get it checked out or if other symptoms appear. It may also be that he needs glasses. sometimes eye problems will cause headaches from straining their eyes too much.
there are public health places go to one and find help for your son now good luck A. no hills
I agree with Penny; check w/ the dentist first. Teeth-grinding at night could most definitely be the culprit. The dentist will be able to see if his teeth are worn down in certain areas from grinding. I also suffered from this as a child.
