My 7 Mo Old Son Only Wants to Nurse Lying Down

He wriggles if I try to nurse him on my lap unless he has gone about 7 hours between feeding. He'll nurse with me lying next to him after 2 hours if I want to get a feed in before I go to work. My schedule changes, so so does his feeding times. I am interested in your coments on this topic.

What can I do next?

My little one got very squirmy and distractable around 6 or 7 months. She is now 10 months and it hasn't improved one bit. I find that she does great if I nurse her right after her naps. I leave the lights out and the door closed so she isn't distracted.
Doesn't really answer your question but keeping him calm and having fewer things for him to get distracted by will help. I know it's not always easy to lay down to nurse.

Contact your local La Leche League group and or group leader. They are great. There is a group in every area. The other place is the breastfeeding center in DC on K street. They have lactation consultants that can help with every issue. Sounds like he has a particular way that he likes to nurse, and needs to be shown that they are other ways that are comfortbable.
Best of luck to you

I usually opted for going with what works. However, you are also heading into what it often referred to as acrobatic nursing. A 7 month old is a lot more wiggly and distractible than a younger infant.

Try to reduce distractions while nursing.
