My son has been breast fed exclusivly until about 3 weeks ago when we started single grain rice cereal. He had slept pretty good until the last 2 weeks. I started him out on plain cereal for 2 weeks and this last week we started with apple sauce mixed in and he really is getting the hang of the solids and seems to enjoy them, but night time is tourture!!!!!!!!!
Last night was the worst and I am wondering if he is in pain?! He doesn't cry for long once I lay my hand on his abdomen, but he stirs and crys MULTIPLE times a night and both my husband, me and Collin(baby)are all exhausted!
HELP PLEASE! Any advice?????
Thank YOU!
J.

I agree with Debbie, although when my little guy got his first ear infections, he "wasn't" pulling at his ears! (I have "strange" children, I know! LOL)

Debbie also forgot to mention that when babies are teething, they very often have trouble sleeping, and your Collin is very definitely probably doing just that!

If you haven't already, it's time to get him some "teething" toys. And you might want to go ahead and take him in to his Pedi, just in case.

Good Luck! HTH!

I have 4 children, very often when an infant is crying at night they have an ear infection. Very common and there can be no other symptoms. I even bought an otoscope to look in their ears after many dr. visits. It has what to look for in the guide. If they have any runny nose or congestion that is a sign, or does he pull at ears?

Otherwise you might want to see if any of the new foods are bothering his tummy but if fine during the daytime might not be. Cereal is probably not hurting him. He could be allergic to the apples, just a thought. Food allergies can give you tummy trouble. Hope it helps. D. R.

I have to agree with Janette and Debbie, my first thoughts were ear infection and teething. With an ear infection, the pressure put on the ears when laying down is horrible. Looks like a trip to the doc is in order.
