Hello! I have a 5yr old daughter that her armpits smell really really bad I hate to say it. She isn't dirty or have hair in her armpits she doesn't sweat like a man but she smells like one. Is this a problem or should I just get her some teen spirit!

What can I do next?

Hi M., I have 6 children and yes I had to deal with this with my 3rd child. She had the same problem, and so when I asked my doctor what to do. It was pretty simple and it worked; everytime she takes a bath, put baking soda in her water and let her soak in it. Another thing you could do, is once she's done with her bath, also put baking soda under her armpit. These methods worked for me. My daughter is now 11 and she's okay. I never had to consult a doctor again, nor did I have to use deoderant at an early age.

I hope this helps.

I had a friend go through that with her daughter. It was because she got pregnant and was still receiving the birth control shot for the first few months. Her daughter started puberty really early, having breasts and needed deoderant at an early age.
I don't know your situation, but i hope this helps. Good luck.
I think talking to your doctor couldn't hurt.

I would have her dr check it out. There must be something going on with her body. I hope it's a quick fix. When kids get older it wont be so easy to deal with.

I would say talk to your MD first. Usually, we don't need deodarant until puberty hits (increase in hormones, etc. Children are going thru this change a lot sooner, but 5 seems so young.
Another question. Are her underarms red and irritated? Maybe she has a fungal infection, which would also require a trip to the MD?

Remember deodorants and antiperspirants that you buy at the store have some bad chemicals in them. Do you want your 5 yr. old using that? Melaleuca has ecosensitive products that are better for you and your children. Contact me by email at ____@____.com or feel free to call me at ###-###-#### and I would be glad to tell you about these products.

Some kids have worse sweet problems than others. Maybe she's not washing herself as good there as she should. My oldest has always smelled BO and he wears deoderant scinse he was nine. My youngest has a problem with his feet. If they are not washed with soap and water every night, they stink so bad his whole room smells. She's young but I would get her in the habit of useing deoderant now. Or at least washing her underarms several times a day.

I would definately have your daughter checked out by her doctor. Kids, especially girls are starting puberty earlier, but 5 is just too early. Early puberty can be a sign of some very serious medical conditions so I would see her doctor soon.

Maybe I am wrong but that desn't seem normal. I would take her to her pediatrician.
