I get this, and have my whole life. I put a little bit of Vaseline on a q-tip, and then I rub it inside of my nose. It really helps.
Help! Last month my son got sick with a fever and then the congestion. A month later (now) he has a fever with a cough and now he's complaining about his nose hurting. We live in a dry region and think it has to do with that. Has anyone had this problem ? Thanks moms for your help!!!!!!!!!!!

Try some saline nose spray-it really helps with moisture. Do you have a humidifier? Give him steamy showers. This crazy weather isn't helping either.
try using a saline spray for the nose...poor baby!
find experienced Classical Homeopath in your area. conventional meds/methods will do more harm than good in this type of problems.
Good Luck!

Hi A., I have been experiencing this sensation because the cold weather and the heat inside the house. One nostril is dry stuffed if that makes sense. Nothing coming or going, yet stuffed and dry and it burns. Along with it is a feeling of dehydration. You may want to be sure he is kept with fluids along with the other suggestions.
Try a product by a company called Neilmed that is better than your traditional saline spray. It's the bottle (not the nettie pot), which is larger & the tip fills the entire nostril, which is most helpful. You can get it online but can also find it at WalMart & some Costco stores (cheaper). It comes with little solution packets that you mix with warm water & then spray up the nose...super easy & very naturally safe. I have been having this problem for over two years & was going through ocean saline spray like crazy until my sinus specialist recommended the neilmed product & it has been a life saver.
Saline spray every day and maybe some vaseline or neosporin in his nose at night. Also a cold air humidifier in his bedroom everynight should help.
Good luck!
The inside of his nose is probably dried out from all of the cold dry weather. Happens to me this time of year each year so I know how annoying it can be. Put some vaseline on the tip of a Q-Tip and swab it on the inside of his nose. That will provide some immediate relief and protection. Also, saline nose sprays and cool mist humidifiers should keep his nose from drying out in the future.
You may want to try Ayr Gel. I am a nurse of 40 yrs and work in a youth facility. We use this frequently when our youth complain of a dry nose, burning, or even nose bleeds. I copied a description about it. You can find it in any drug store - it's "over the counter".

Hi,
Ditto on the saline spray advice -- it worked for me as a child and it works for my own kids now. When I was little we lived in the high desert so we had plenty of opportunities to test it out. Good luck!
