Try wetting a corner of a clean washcloth and putting it in the freezer for a few minutes. Then allow him to chew/suck on it. It will be easier to manipulate than a teething ring, and should soothe the sore gums. Hope that helps.

My twin and I had 4 teeth at 4 months.
It's just aprocess you have to go through. It will get better. There is no other remedy but the oraljel or teether.

Hi T.,

I understand if you are having a hard time holding a teething ring that other things in his mouth will probably be just as hard. A wet cold (refrigerated even) washcloth that Bradlee can't choke on and you don't have to sit and hold would work. Don't give him any kind of medicine that is not necessary. The baby Orajel is okay and OCCASIONAL Tylenol but don't use things that will affect him with other issues. Too much Tylenol does liver damage, Benaldryl is great in an emergency but not on a regular basis.

I use Melaleuca oil and that actually will take the inflammation down along with the discomfort AND you only need ONE drop. Just massage it in and it lasts a while. It won't hurt the baby's tummy (probably would help) or have any long-term side effects.

Three months and 3 teeth. WOW! The Melaleuca oil will also help with bacteria on those precious teeth too!

Best wishes to you and Bradlee!

You might try Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets (you can google them to find a source). They worked wonderfully for my first child but not for my second. I can't promise they'll work, but it's worth a try.

the teething tablets are great you can get them at walmart. theres also a liquid out there called Gumomile oil that works even better you rub it on his gums and numbs instantly and lasts longer than orajel. also motrin works better on oral pain than tylenol you'll have to ask your dr for the dosage.

Teething tablets are wonderful. Your can buy them at publix or kroger. They are all natural, not sure what's in them but they allways work for us.

Baby Oraljel is not relly reccommended anymore. Have you tasted it by the way, it's nasty.

Good Luck!

Wow your baby started young, Poor mom and babe. Have you tried infants ibuprofen drops (motrin) I was a nurse for 14 years and this seems to work. You can also get those teethers that have a gel in it that you can freeze. The cold helps with the pain as well as inflammation.

WARNING!!! My daughter's pediatrician recommends not using the Hyland tablets. They contain a chemical - belladonna alkaloid - which is very toxic!!

Don't know if he is too young for this, but my doctor recommended putting benadryl on a q-tip and rubbing it on his gums. It seems to help. Also you could try rubbing a wet rag on his gums or a gum cleaner for babies. Teething is a rough thing to go through for some. Hopefully you will get through it with ease. Good Luck!

You can try chilling a wet wash cloth for him to chew on (one of the soft bath wash cloths for babies is good and small) or even chilling a paci for baby. I used to dip my paci in cold water every 10-15 minutes when the teething was bad. Anything he already is interested in, you can dampen and toss in the frig a minute. The infant toothbrushes to apply the orajel or even to just massage the gums helps. Orajel doesn't stay put well which is why it really isn't helping much. Infant motrin is actually a better pain reliever to some babies than tylenol.

My son cut his teeth early also. He loved to chew on a tooth brush. It was really easy for him to hold.

Go to Walgreens and get some of the teething tablets! They really work. My 7 month old is cutting her eye teeth, and they are very painful. The teething tablets instantly dissolve when you place them in the babies mouth. I usually follow the tablet with the bottle to make digestion easier. The great thing about the tablets is that they are all natural!

Good Luck!

Per the following quote from the hylands.com website, Belladona in the Hylands teething tablets is only toxic in large amounts:

"The homeopathic approach relies on small doses of natural ingredients to stimulate the body's healing process instead of large doses that create undesirable side effects. For instance, Belladonna is an ingredient in the tablets, which in large amounts could be toxic, but in minute amounts, homeopathic Belladonna helps the body to heal and would never be toxic to your baby. Even if your baby accidentally swallowed an entire bottle of Hyland's Teething Tablets, there is little chance of experiencing side effects. The homeopathic approach allows for a very large margin of safety."
