My 3 1/2 Month Old Baby Is 15Lbs!

My baby girl is 3 1/2 month old and weighs 15lbs. When she was born she was 7 lbs 4oz and has doubled her birth weight in 3 months. Everywhere I go people think that she is 6 months old and they always have sometimes harsh criticism on my baby's weight. People have even went as far as to say that she may develop asthma because of her being overweight. I've consulted with her doctor and her doctor assures me that there is nothing to worry about. What is the best way to deal with critical people concerning my baby's weight?

What can I do next?

Christal-
My son was 8lbs 9oz when he was born and now at 14 months he is 30lbs. People always think he is older than he is also. As long as she is healthy, then don't worry about their weight. I read in an article that the only thing it means when a baby is in the 95 percentile on the charts is that he/she will be the biggest kid in their preschool class. I used to get really upset when people would comment on my son's weight but now I don't even let it get to me. People will always criticize, no matter what. Every child is wonderful and special no matter their weight. Just don't let it get to you.

Personally I have always loved chubby babies! In a baby that young it is a sign of health not obesity!!!Mymiddle child (girl) was the chubbiest baby you could ever see she is now almost five very slender she weighs just a slight bit less than my 3 yr old (also girl). If people are making you upset with their comments you should just let them know that you are perfectly happy and happen to like healthy looking babies. I know we all get obsessed over weight but at 3 1/2 months that's just a little crazy and you can tell them I said so.

I have the same problem but it's opposite. My daughter is 1 year old and weighs 19 pounds, she's also pretty short. She's chubby and gorgeous but small for 1 year. When people ask how old she is I tell them she's a year old. People have looked at her and I strangely and just said, "Oh.. wow, she looks so tiny, is there something wrong with her?!" Like it's really any of their business anyway, but then I tell them, "she weighed 2lbs 1oz at birth and was 3 1/2 months early and she's perfectly healthy, thank you!" That usually leaves them shocked and stammering and that's when I make a quick exit. LOL. Don't worry about other people, some people just don't know when to keep stuff to themselves and think they know everything about everything and feel the need to tell you how it is. I'm sure your baby is absolutely adorable! You could just tell them that even supermodels were chunky babies! Babies are small and chubby and cute and if she's healthy then she's perfect!

My twin girls are 8 months old and 20 lbs - as big as month 1 year olds. And since they were about your daughter's age, they've always been 'chubby.' And my doctor says they are just fine too.

Here's some of my answers to rude comments (especially strangers):

If someone says the girls are fat, I say, "Yes, they are Phat! P-H-A-T! Thank you for noticing."

If someone says the girls are too big, I say, "That leaves me more to love."

If someone says they are chubby, I say, "You know, I've been wondering why more and more little girls have self-image problems & now I know. Thanks."

If you just don't feel as confident about dishing it back, then just say, "Her doctor says she's perfect, don't you think so?"

Hope this helps.

My daughter just turned four months old, and she is 16 lb. 5 oz. Chubby! She is in the 92nd percentile for weight. She was 8 lb. 10 oz. at birth. Her sister, who was 8 lb. 9 oz. at birth, was in the 5th percentile for weight as a baby and had to be put on a calorie-boosting diet (she is now in the 50th percentile at age two). It just goes to show that each baby develops at his/her own rate. As long as your doctor is not concerned, please do not worry. When people comment on her weight, I would just say that yes, she is adorably chubby, but her doctor says she is a perfectly healthy, happy girl. Good luck!

Dear C.,
Rest easy and know that every child is unique in the way he or she developes, both physically and mentally! My son was 7 lbs at birth and had doubled his weight at 8 wks (14 lbs) and then went on to be 20 lbs at 6 mos! I was told it was because he was exclusively breastfed, but a friend has a little girl on the same route and has been formula fed since birth. Both children are incredibly healthy, and yours is too!
Here's to your journey as a mom,

Aren't people wonderful?!?!?! I had the opposite problem. My son was a whopping 3lb 7oz when he was born premature. At
3 months he doubled his weight to 7 lbs. Like yours, he was pefectly healthy. I got all the advice, from strangers, friends , and relatives, that I wasn't feeding him right. Even my "wonderful" mother-in-law was afraid that he was starving and afraid he could die.( Yes, she actually said that constantly for the first 2 1/2 years) Thank goodness she lives 6,000 miles away!! I would just look people straight in the eye and say "Thanks for being such an expert about my baby. You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night" and walk away.
And don't worry about your baby. Once she starts moving and drops all the weight people will comment on that too.
Just enjoy her and ignore everyone else!

OMG My son had about the same issues. At first he was failure to thrive due to a dairy allergy, but once we got him on foods and the correct formula he was 10 months old and weighted 28 pounds. He will be three in november and is 38 pounds. I can't even begin to tell you how i was. At first i would just give them a nasty look then as time went on it started getting worse and the comments got even worse. Then that is when i went off the handle. I tend to think i went off for the reason my son was in and out of the hospital at that time. They were testing him from everything from Cancer to ????????? You name it it was tested for. My husband and i were besides our self. Please don't stress If in a few months she does not seem to be stabalizing in her weight or developmentally it is putting a strain on her then start demanding to her ped that something is done. Ask the state to step in on help. Such as developmental help! It was the worlds best thing for my husband and I. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I stand by you I understand everything you are going through.

Tell everyone to get over it. My son was a chunky baby and everyone used to tell me all the time how he's too big - he's not. Once he started crawling and walking he slimmed down. But if the doc tells you there is nothing to worry about, the next time someone says something just tell them if the doc does feel the need to be concerned, they don't need to be either. People need to understand that babies come in all shapes and sizes. My baby is now 14 months old and weighs about 24 lbs. He has a big belly and chubby legs but 12 months clothes are still too big for him so he's not that big but alot of people tell me is. He is right where he needs to be and I bet your baby is too!

C., you've gotten alot of responses! I think you've touched on a nerve.

My oldest boy (who is now 5) was 10lbs when born, and 30 lbs at 1 year. At age 5, he's now 80 lbs and 4'2" tall. They've stopped charting him because he's off the charts. He's not unhealthy or fat, he's just really, really big and, as you know, people feel compelled to comment. People also think he's a lot older than he is.

To avoid problems, I usually say something first and make sure people know how old he is. Because he's so big, people don't know what to say but they are so amazed they want to say something. I'm sure it's the same with your daughter. Don't assume that it's an insult, they probably don't know how to say it in a polite way. People would ask me what I was feeding Robby and I'd tell them, "miracle grow and look how well it's worked!!" I'd also point out how he was on track for a great football scholarship. Just try to turn thoughtless comments into something positive. They didn't bother me much, but they do bother my son.

You will probably have problems finding diapers though as she gets bigger and if she maintains the same percentile of weight. Robby outgrew his diapers WAY before he was toilet trained - he was a 5T when he was 24 mos. Thank heavens for Goodnites. I'd look around for other moms of "big" kids both for support and for practical things like where to find clothes and diapers, etc. Good luck.

All three of my children have been big! My oldest weighed 40lbs at her 3 year check up and they weighed her 3 times because they couldn't believe it. She looks like she is 6 (she's now 4) and definately doesn't look over weight or even chunky she just weighs alot...anyway my 15 month old wears 24 months clothes. Some kids are just big. I always tell people when they say look how big she is...I say, "I know she's a good eater she just loves fruits and veggies...I'm so glad she's healthy and not scrawny like some of those kids you see!" kind of takes them off guard...since yours doesn't eat real food yet just say " I know isn't it great? You know, it's funny how people seem to think that every stranger they walk past is just DYING to know what they think.

My son was born at 10 lb, 15 oz. And everyone wanted to know how late he was born (he wasn't, 16 days early), did I have diabetes(no, I did not). You'd get that surprised gasp when I was asked how old he was.

Now, he's two, and he's 3 feet tall, and 29 lbs. Now all I get is look how skinny he is!

As long as your doc is not worried, and you are confident in your doctor, then be glad that what you are feeding her is obviously wholesome and nutritious for her to be growing so well. There are BILLIONS of mothers all over the world who would pray to have your problem.

Oh yeah, and since like 3/4 of the people in our country are overweight, give them the fisheye up and down and ask, "Really?" When they have something to say about her size. No one appreciates the comment aimed at them, and is an excellent reminder of just how rude and instrusive it is.

Try and let it roll off your back. As long as you're not forcibly shoving food down your baby's throat, she's not being overfed.
Some babies grow much quicker than others.

Take my two, for example. At birth - nine days overdue - my daughter was 7 lbs., 2 oz. At the age of 23 months she weighs 26 lbs.

My son was 8 lbs., 8 oz. at birth. Within four and a half weeks he packed on four pounds. I say four because he lost a pound while in the hospital - when we went home he was at 7 lbs., 8 oz.

All babies have different growth rates. :)

Ok, so this might sound well dumb but, you could just lie. If you are tired of the questions and just want strangers to move along a little faster, tell them your baby is a few months older than she really is. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, I understand. It was just a suggestion.

But just remember that there is nothing wrong with your daughter. It is the people that suck!!!!

There is absolutely NOTHING WRONG with your baby! My son Jake was 8lbs 8oz at birth and was 16lbs at his 2 month checkup. There is nothing wrong with a chubby baby! That just means she is healthy. Besides, fat looks soooo good on babies!

If people are rude enough to comment, tell them it is none of their concern and YOUR BABY is perfectly fine. They have no business making such comments. Don't let someone else's ignorance bring you down.

Enjoy the chubby baby stage! Before you know it, she'll be running around and as thin as a rail.

Just know that once your daughter starts walking, it will melt away. There are large people in this world, Shaquille O'Neill, for example, and Michael Jordan. C.- people are going to critcize no matter what. If she weighed less, they'd say she is too skinny. I have dealt with it on both extremes- My son was 10lbs 2oz at birth and weighed 25lbs by the time he was 9 months old. He's almost 3 now, and has weighed 35lbs for about 9 months. He's growing taller, and evening out. My daughter, lbs at birth, gains maybe a pound evey couple of months. She was just 20lbs at her one year visit. There are very wide ranges of normal, and as long as your dr. says your baby is healthy, try to ignore the criticism.

Tell them to mind their business! My daughter was born 6 lbs. 11 1/2 oz,and was 16 pounds at 3 months. As you can imagine, she continued to gain weight as she got older. She's now 20 months and weighs 32 pounds! She's healthy, and very energetic. People tried telling me she was overweight, and had me all upset and worried for nothing when she was younger. Never did the doc say she was overweight...just tall for her age. She's now the size of a normal 3 year old. So don't let people discourage you or have you worried over your child. As long as the doc says your baby is healthy, the both of you will be just fine.

Anyway three of my children were rolly polly babies and DAMN were they cute! It's called baby fat and they are all in good shape and healthy now so I would just smile and say, My baby is healthy and she will be just fine but thanks for your concern! Maybe these people who are saying that had scrony babies or something and they're just jealous. My son was 9 and 1/2 lbs and 23 1/2 inches at birth. He didn't look like a newborn at all. Hi C.-
I'm not entirely sure how large my son was when he was 3 1/2 months old, but by the time he had his four month check-up, he was 18 pounds! Now that he's six months, he's over a whopping 20 1/2 pounds! He's an extremely healthy baby. When they are as young as our babies are, they basically are looking at a growth curve. They want to make sure that if your daughter was in the 90th percentile, for example, that she continues to grow in such a manner. The same goes for babies who are little and only in the 5th or 10th percentile. They may be very healthy. My husband and I were both really large babies so we're not surprised in the least that our son is big. When he was four months old we took him to the zoo and put him in a baby swing for the first time. The Mom swinging her toddler son next to ours asked how old he was and when I told her she was really surprised. She said she thought he was about nine months! And now that he's six months old and over 20 1/2 pounds, people still mistaken him for being much older than he really is. When people comment on how big he is I simply tell them that yes, he's a big HEALTHY and HAPPY boy. If a baby is very heavy this young, that's not to say that our chidren will be overweight once they get older! They're babies! I'm very sorry that you are receiving such negative responses to your daughter's weight, when in fact, she is a very healthy baby girl! Hang in there and when someone comments, my advice would be to tell them that she is a very healthy little girl, the doctor says so. Good luck!!!

People will give criticism no matter what so just don't pay them any mind. You could simply say, thank you for your concern, but according to my doctor, my baby is healthy. By the way, what about the babies who are 8 or 9 lbs. when they are born. By three months they probablly weigh a lot more than your child.

Seriously, people should keep opinions to themselves at times.
My ds was the same way. When he was approaching 4 months he weighed 16 pounds. People would comment all the time. I was never concerned because I thought the rolls and chubby cheeks were wonderful.
My ped. told me that once he got to be around 6 months of age he would slowly stop gaining so much weight so fast. I asked about him being overweight as an adult and he said they did a study of overweight babies and only one in five ended up being obese as an adult.

Try not to let the comments bother you. You are obviously doing a great job as a mom!

Tell people that you have talked with your ped. and he/she is not concerned at the moment..

My son is 17 pounds at 4 months. Your little girl sounds very healthy and is lucky to have a mom who loves and cares for her as you do. When people offer you their unsolicited advice, just respond with something casual - "She certainly is a healthy baby!"

Ok...when i had my daughter, she weighed almost 8lbs. At 4months, she weighed 16lbs, and at 9 months she was 22lbs, now she is a year old, and still weighs 22lbs. She is crawling, and starting to walk, and is thinnig out. Dont be worried. She is fine. My niece is 15 months old, and only 17 lbs. I know a grl friend of mine , her son is 10 months old and he is 31 lbs. The doctors are still not concerned. They "babies" are there own person. When your baby starts moving around, she may thin out. I would rather have an bit heavier baby than an underweight baby, but as long as there healthy and happy, let them be.

There is nothing wrong with your child. I understand where you are coming from. I have 2 children my daughter is 7 and is only 41 pounds and 4 feet tall(she has her father's genes) and my son is 34 inches tall and 32 pounds and he's 2 and his doc. told me he needed a diet. My daughter's GI doctor told me there was nothing wrong with my son like because children need fat and all to develop their brain. As long as they are getting all their nutrients don't worry. All babies and children grow differently. Not all children or people will be thin. It goes in the genes and the kind of formula the child is on. My nephew is the same way because he was on the alumentium.(the formula puts weight on children) Watch when your child starts crawling and walking the weight will distribute properly and there is nothing to worry about. Besides don't worry about those people children always need a little extra weight as a reserve incase they get sick so it can fight the infection. Don't worry about what people say or think. just love your baby!!

Yikes, my four month old twins weigh over 15 pounds too, and both started out below 7lbs. Didn't know that was an issue! Tell people to mind their own business. Thats awful that they would critisize you. As if you're feeding your baby Mcdonalds or something! =) As long as the Dr. is ok with it then you should be ok with it. Don't worry, she'll stretch out. My older son (2 yrs) did that a half dozen times in his first year, he got "fat" for a few weeks, then he grew two inches and slimmed down again. No worries, it's ok for her to have some extra fluff!

My one year old started out life at 6 pounds 10 ounces and doubled by 4 months of age. At her nine month check-up she weighed 27.25 pounds, just 3 pounds shy of her 3 year old sister!!! She was off the charts for weight and, yes, people said some unkind things. The best thing to keep in mind is that all children develope at their own rate...not just weight but skills and speach and crawling and everything. My doctor became worried when my daughter flew off the weight chart but she also told me that once my daughter started really moving...as in walking/running the weight would drop off and she's right. My daughter at 1 year old now weighs just 24.5 pounds and is happy and flourishing. She runs around the house with great delight. Try to relax, it's hard being a first time mom, I know...but your baby will be fine. If the doctor becomes worried about it she'll give you advice on how to stabilize your babies weight...until then just smile and tell those critical people that your baby is just as happy as can be and so is her doctor. That usually quiets them right down. Good luck!

how tall is she?? The reason I ask is that my daughter is 14 months old and when she was born she was 9 lbs 6oz and 20" long... now she's 25 lbs and 34" long and she wears size 2T. My baby has ALWAYS been a big girl- she doesn't look fat she's really tall and looks 2 years old. but put it this way... my little brother is 3 years old. He weighs 34 lbs and he's 38" long. My daughter is only 9 pounds lighter and 4" shorter than a 3 year old. Every child is different- and when your little girl starts crawling and scooting along, the muscle will take over and she'll start to fill out a little. The pudginess will go away as she learns to be a little more active. Don't worry, if your doctor says that your baby is healthy, he or she is right. And complete strangers don't know your baby, so don't let their comments get to you.

My 2 year old wears 5T and weighs 42 pounds! She was born 10 lbs 7 oz , and 24 inches (and I am only 110 pounds at 5'5"). She was 16 pounds by the time she was 2 months! One woman actually gave me paperwork with advice on mentally challenged babies in a bathroom while I was breastfeeding her! She thought she was retarded since she couldn't talk very well - she was only 7 months old but the size of a 2 year old.

Laugh it off. If your doctor says its okay, don't sweat it! You know what you are doing right or wrong with your own child. The strangers have voiced their concerns and you asked the doctor. Done! Enjoy that Big Girl and take lots of pictures because they are absolutely squishable at that age!

Hello there! I was in the same boat. My son was born 7lbs 8oz. He quickly "breeched" to 20 lbs buy the time he was 6 months old. Now I'm not sure if you are breast feeding or not but, I feel that there is nothing wrong with a fat baby. To me that means a healthy baby. My son was so big, that I had to go to the police dept and get an approval to turn him around in his carseat. It was to the point that he was sooo big, he was using it as a bouncy seat. He was forward facing by 7 Months.
When she starts to crawl and be more active then, you will see the pounds shed. Just remember.. Healthy foods at 6 months.. Veggies and fruit. I still cut the juice in half with water and he is 3 yrs old now. The less sugar intake the better for weight problems when they are toddlers. One mistake I made was not giving him water at an early age, now he doesn't like it.
I hope this helps you, and you feel you aren't alone, cause you are not. When other people make remarks, comments or suggestions, just nod your head and say thank you. You know what is best for YOUR child. Hint: my son was 27 lbs at 1 yrs old and was 29 lbs at 2. He is now 3 and weighs 40, but he is very tall for his age too. Each child is different, She will be fine !!!! Good luck with her and best wishes..

i wouldn't worry too much once that little girl starts crawling and growing she'll porportionalize. My daughter was 8 lbs 14 oz 21 inches long she was a big baby and was almost 15 lbs at the same time(3 1/2, 4 months old) she was 14.85 lbs. At 8 weeks she had already gained approx 3 1/2 pounds. She gained a decent amount of weight in a short time because she was already drinking more formula than an average smaller baby. She was at 2 oz of formula when left the hospital and she wanted more. Now she is a healthy 2 1/2 year old and is around 32 pounds. I think she portioned out pretty darn good...well me and her daddy aren't very big people anyways we only weight around 120 a piece. And as for the other people they have nothing else better to do than to make crappy comments...i bet she is a beautiful little one too

Hi C., I guess no one can rtruly understand why some kids get big and others don`t gain. I have 2 kids. My 3 year old son I have problems with him eating and he weighs 29 pounds now. He`s only a pound more that he was on his 2nd birthday. Then I have my 6 year old daughter. Brianna was born premature at 31 weeks. She was in the nicu for 6 weeks. She came home at 5.3. She was on preemie formula. Even while she was in the nicu, they would say oh she gained 3 ounces last night so don`t be shocked if she loses tomorrow, well my daughter never lost, she gained and gained and gained. For being a 4.2 pound preemie, she was 24 pounds at a year old. She is 6 now and weighs 54 pounds. She`s solid now. I look at her baby pictures now and say wow, lol. I didn`t realize she was that big. i thought she was a little chubby. So I wouldn`t worry about what people think. I have/had a chubby one and a extremely thin one. No matter what size they are people are cruel and jealous, they will always find something negative to say. People comment on your children being too skinny too, I`ve heard comments on both of my kids. So don`t worry about it. My niece that i watch 3 days a week is chubby too, she`s almost 16 pounds at just 6 months and was also a preemie at 34 weeks. If she hungry she`s hungry. I do think she like my daughter though, do over eat at times:) Don`t worry about what others say, it`s none of their business.

do you nurse you baby??? i am sooo curious...people are screwed up. some people have nothing nice to say. and they can't mind their own business. my ex mother in law said my baby might have worms when he was that age and i was just a little younger than you and i stayed up all night with a flashlight to see if i could see them. she told me i would have to sneak up on them...she is and was soooo cruel. jealous is a good way to describe her...my boys were all very big and VERY healthy. if your baby is doing everything she is suppose to be doing then don't listen to cruel people. make sure you are looking at who the people are who are saying these things to you. like are they old and ugly and have their own issues??? someone told my mother that she was too ugly to have a beautiful baby like me!!!! and my mother is/WAS BEAUTIFUL...i swear. so people are just jealous. and they are negative. now C., if the doctor is happy with her weight then don't worry. they don't lie. they want whats best for the baby. they can be harsh too but they care. so we have to think of a proper comment to say to those rude people...do you have to take a course on being sooo rude or does it come naturally??? what do you think of that??? lol keep smiling honey...i will think of something else. i hope i put a smile on your face. your daughter is fine. just very healthy!!!!J.

i'm going through the same thing but this is round 2 for me! Both my kids were big babies. my son (who will be three this halloween)was ten pounds at birth (and early) and my daughter (who just turned 10 monthsh this week) was 9 pounds two weeks early! their weight was very raipd as well and at their checkups they were both in the 100% percentile for weight and 95% for height (and their heads are big too (90-95%). Both kids were chubby (daughter twice as chubby!) and had an early start with their size. I heard it all too! My doc says that they are right on target with their size for THEIR progress! No infant could be overweight! My son eventually thinned out but is very solid and people think he is 4 or 5 (which is also due to the fact that he was an early talker and currently an excellent talker. MY daughter is very very chubby and people constantly comment on her chubby legs (which i LOVE) a lot of people think her legs are cute and her chubby face, but there are so many rude and inconsiderate people out there that i dealt with about what i feed them and i just say that i don't know what you're looking at but i see perfectly HEALTHY kids! My son eats nothing BUT healthy food (im a picky mom!) and loves all his frutis/veggies/meats and will not eat much sweet stuff b/c he doesn't have the want for it. and then people (mostly the hubbys familiy) has the never to ask WHY i WONT LET HIM have foods such as chips, soda, and the like!! after they comment about his weight! plus with my infant daughter she eats what HER body needs and she wont let you overfeed her!! i used to tell people with my son (who at 2 1/2 weighed 41 pounds) that he's getting an early start on his NFL career as a linebacker. Also, i too heard the asthma comments and I just laugh at people and say wow! that's some news to me! b/c my kids are perfectly healthy and ACTIVE!!! and then i look at some people and think (but don't say) well maybe you should take a look in the mirror! my son doesn't look his weight but does look a few years older and people's eyes bug out when i tell them how old my daughter is. I think it's great having bigger kids as long as their doc said they are okay and nothing to worry about and also that i know that i'm doing MY part in feeding them healthy and making sure they are active. PLUS it's funny people just don't think... it's funny how i've never seen everyone in the world the same size! some people are bigger than others and the same goes for babies! god made us all DIFFERENT!! but it's the parents on maury povich who feed their kids 20 cheesburgers for lunch and 6 plates of fries and 10 hot dogs for a snack and soda in the 9 month old's bottles (has anyone seen these episodes????) SORRY this is LONG!!!!!!! but i get so ticked about when people make nasty comments to my kids when they are healthy! LOVE YOUR CHUBBY BABY!!!!!!! :-) and you can respond isn't SHE CUTE!!!!!!!

There are going to be alot of people that are going to be critical how you raise your child. I have a 3 1/2 yr old niece who is almost 50 lbs. and she's beautiful! She looks like she is 5. Just as long as you keep a healthy diet as she gets older and encourage her to be active when she starts moving and listening to your doc don't worry about them. My mom always has something to say about how I raise my son. I just ignore her harsh critisims. Instead I ask my son's doctor for child advice or I go online to get some info. At least she is gaining weight and before you know it she grow out of it and be fine. I still have a hard time to get my son to gain weight and I let him eat anytime he wants!

I can empathize with you because my son has slightly bowed legs, and I usually get some harsh criticism about that. His father's legs are the same, and he walks just like him. HIs doctor says that he will grow out of it, and now I am resolved with the matter. I would just just say to people that she is healthy, and then divert their attention by saying something like,"She just began smiling, and I am really proud of that". :)

She is still bigger for her age, but now she is rolling and trying to crawl so she is burning more energy. i think a lot of people expect babies to be a certain way and when they are built differently you get the comments. people don't realize that some babies are just big babies. but i wouldn't worry about it. Some people are just ignorant.

There is nothing wrong with a 'chunky' little baby. Its better for them. Does your doctor say anything about the weight. You want your baby to gain weight. How is she on the growth chart? My daughter was always up there. I cant't beleive people actually say stuff to you about it. Most people love little chunky little babies, they are the cutest. And when people tell you to be careful your child may get asthma, Tell them they are wrong, and to get there facts staright and to know what they are talking about. Don't listen to anyone but yourself. You are the mother and you will always know what is best for your baby. You might not always think you do, but you have to listen to your inner mommy! Hehe, my son was the same way! He is only 2 years old and weighs 35lbs! He is almost as heavy as his 5 year old sister.
However, he is tall also. My son is in the 90th percentile. His father is 6'6" so I know he will be tall, but he is also broad and muscular. There isnt any fat on him. Your daughter might be getting ready for a big growth spurt. If your doctor says she is good, I would trust it. I know its difficult to hear others criticism, but just mention she is gonna be tall or that she is happy and healthy. Smile and be happy that God gave you such a beautiful baby. If you are happy with her, she will learn to be happy with herself. Be careful not to create a complex for your daughter.
