So lately my daugther is going by herself an sitting on her potty. Pull her diaper off an pants all on her own. She even takes her diaper off wen she poops in it. And no she hasnt started actually potting in the potty she tries but nothing, and she keeps tryN.

I guess what Im asking is what should I do?
I was planing on gettn her some pull up this friday(2morrow) and I got her underpants last May for her 2nd birthday.
Im at a lost I know this is her way of let me know shes ready to be a Big Girl, an Im excited. She my 1st Big Girl so my 1st official potty training. (my stepdaugther whos 6 doesnt know how to use the potty, the world is her restroom and she has accident everyday an does it without carring.)

What Do I do? Whats my next step? Would love some advice on whats the next step!! Cuz I have no clue right now... :-)

Pullups are too much like diapers in the sense that she can't feel the wetness. It sounds like she's ready to be a big girl so just take the plunge and put her in underwear! It might be messy for the first few days but she'll get the hang of it fairly quickly if she's ready. Good luck!

Here's an extremely informative educational website you might find helpful. It gives a few variations on"readiness" checklists, plus tips on various training strategies, the best ages to start them, and the advantages and disadvantages of each approach: http://www.parentingscience.com/potty-training-tips.html

And here's another site that details an approach that can be helpful for potty training delays and problems: http://www.rogerknapp.com/medical/pottytrainingrefusals.htm

Wishing you luck!

NO PULL-UPS!!!!!! They are diapers that are put on differently and children know this even if their parents don't! She sounds like she's more than ready so tomorrow when she gets up, take her diaper off and take her potty. Then explain to her that she is a Big Girl now and she gets to wear regular underwear. And once she's gone five days without an accident, you are going to take her shopping and let her pick out whatever kind of big girl panties she wants! Then, put on a pair of training panties and go for it. She will probably have at least one accident because she has no idea at this point exactly what will happen when she pees, but it will only take her once to know and not like it. Take her to the bathroom every half hour or so until you can figure out her potty schedule (we all go kind of on a schedule) or get to recognize when she has to go.

Go for it mama!

A lot of the books I read suggest getting rid of diapers/pull ups altogether and letting your little one either wear underpants or go without anything for the first day or so while you're at home. If you decide to do that, you need to make sure you have nothing else to do and that you can be with her at all times. Watch for her cues. Don't wait for her to "tell" you when she needs to go. When you see her crossing her legs, holding herself or whatever her cues might be, then you should tell her that it's time to use the potty. Pick her up if you need to and put her on the potty. Even if she gets just a little in the potty celebrate it. Stay positive. It's going to be messy and you'll go through a lot of underpants and clothes those first few days but if you stick with it, she'll succeed. Good luck. :)

My daughter went through a naked stage. As soon as she wake up she would go naked.
I laugh now but at that point I was wonder that she would grow and things wont change and teacher would call: Please come make your daughter put her pants!.
I personally wouldn't get the Pull ups, I tried them and I didn't like them neither her, and I only use them at night since I wanted her to keep trying, and those were not comfortable at night and since she was still little she would still go on them at night which it was a mess the next morning.
I think that even if she hasn't gone to the potty she is about soon.
Be ready to see another mile stone pass.

My daughter is 2 and a half (born Sept 09), we just did a basic "crash course" "boot camp" style potty training, were we put panties on w/ rubber pants over them (from wal-mart), and brought her to the potty every 30 minutes or so, you literally need about 4-5 days straight in my opinion ? I skipped pull ups all together, my Doc said it would be confusing for her and that made sense to me:) She's been potty trained since Thanksgiving, sleeps at night w/ panties and has probably about 1 accident a week at night:) Good luck!
about the panties, we started out w/ the potty training ones, they are a little thicker

Aww! That is great that she is so willing to try and wanting to be a big girl! I agree with the other mom that said that Pull Ups are almost like putting a diaper on them, and you don't want to miss this window of opportunity where she is excited to potty train!
I like the cloth training pants. This way it feels like the cloth of big girl undies but it will hold more "just in case"
We like the ones at OneStepAhead.com

Hope all goes well!

I agree, the cloth training pants worked well for both our daughters. The Gerber brand worked just fine for them. I bought a dozen for each one, that way on rough days if necessary we could make it through the whole day, put a diaper on at night and the dirty trainers in the wash to be ready for the next day.
