Dear K.,
I was watching Super Nanny one night and saw them tell the little girl that there was a binki fairy. So I got a great idea and told my daughter who was 22 months that their was a bottle fairy. She said no. So my friend who has a baby asked her if she could buy the bottles off of her. So my friend gave her a penny for every bottle piece. She had to put all the bottle pieces in the bag. That night she asked for a bottle. I just said " Remember, you sold them." She was ok until in the middle of the night. She woke up crying and I just kept reminding her. The first two nights was rough.\

i know it is easier said than done but you just take it away my son was so into his bottle at night but it only took 2 night the first night her woke up alot asking for baabaa but slowly he realized he no more and he was fine on the 3rd night. I know they cry for it like they are in pain but they are not and i went with him and he picked out a toy that i would give him at night for him to relax, B.

I NEVER thought my youngest would stop the bottle.. he would go all day and not want a bottle, but the minute it was bedtime he would want a bottle of milk.. he was almost 3 when i had enough of it.. so what does a good mother do?.. i lied and stole from him. :-)
everyday i would take a nipple and cut the end of it off, and tell him that the cat must of chewed it, and the bottle was no good anymore... and i would have him throw it away himself and tell him to say "bye bye.. bottle im a big boy now"...until one day.. he had no more bottles.. then at night when he asked for one i would let him sit in the chair and drink milk from a sippy cup 30 minutes before bed, and told him it was a "big boy bottle" for big boys... and that seemed to help him out just great... and the funny thing was.. i had to go out and buy a cat.. cuz he finally caught on after a few days that we didnt have one..

I weaned my daughter off the bottle when she was 15 months and it was hard. I told her she was a big girl now and big girls don't drink from bottles. She and I then proceeded to thow away her bottles together. The 1st 2 nights were a little rough but after that it was fine. You could also leave a sippy cup of water in bed with your son and that way if he wakes up thirsty, he has his water already. This works for my daughter and she is 21 months.

Hope this helps and good Luck!!! I know it's hard

What's the rush? Let him take the bottle. He'll give it up when he's ready. Why is everyone in such a hurry with making their babies grow up? I can guarantee he won't be drinking it when he goes to college!

Let him grow up at his own pace and he will be a happier, more secure child and adult.

My daughter loved her bottle untill she was a little over 2. Then she stopped asking for it! (We're still nursing- she would only get a bottle when I wasn't home at bed time-- otherwise I was her bottle!)

Try to change your bedtime routine a little. For example, if he is used to having a bottle and watching a movie, you could give him a sippy cup and read stories instead. It may take a few days, but he will adjust. I would just throw the bottles away and tell him that there aren't anymore. He might cry, but with a little comfort, he will accept the cup. Just my opinion.
