My 2 Year Old Won't Eat Breakfast!

I'm sure my little guy is just going through some stage but he will not eat much of anything. I sit down with both of my boys every morning to feed them breakfast before we start our day. My 2 year old will not eat anything...he only wants juice. I feel awful taking him to school with nothing in his belly. I give him different options but he wants nothing. He'll eat snacks mid morning, lunch and a little dinner but no breakfast. Anyone had this situation or have any suggestions? THANKS!

What can I do next?

My daughter did the same thing at 3. I always felt awful in the mornings, especially on the days she had school. Have you tried making a smoothie? He might be more interested if he's "drinking" vs. eating...and you can use fruit, milk, yogurt, etc. so you'll feel a little better. It was usually hit or miss, usually miss. Occasionally I would get lucky if she ate grapes or raisins. Just keep trying and eventually something will interest him. She's 4 now and eats a decent breakfast and has expanded her repertoire of food interest. Be patient, this too shall pass.

My 4yo does this too; like her daddy she is just NOT a morning person. My rule with her has generally been that she doesn't have to eat if she doesn't want to, but she must drink a glass of milk then. At least then she's got something in her belly to get her started. A smoothie or "go gurt" are also good ideas.

I just got over this stage with my 2 year old son! He had a lot of anxiety since i started back at work so he was starting at a new sitter! I gave him the drinkable yogurt & fruit in the moring! & if he's having a really bad morning I used the formula for toddlers just to make sure he was getting nutrients & felt full! He said it was "good milk" so i went with it! He also tending to eat sweeter things like fruit & pancakes or wafles with barely any syrup!

Good Luck!

My 2-year old has never been a big eater (except when she was nursing and did that constantly!). she just doesn't want much breakfast and so we give her ovaltine and 2% milk ("hot cocoa")

Every once in a while she will eat more if we offer, but we just don't worry about it any more. she has a snack at pre-school around 10am, so that seems to fill her up.

Good luck!
