You can always check out the rec center in your area some have play groups or fun classes for kids to get a chance to interact with each other.
How do I go about joining a playgroup? My mother takes care of my almost 3 yr old daughter while my husband and I work so she hasn't had much opportunity to play with other kids her age or make friends. I would really love for her to interact with other children on a regular basis.

I am right there with you. My son just turned two and he goes to day care two days a week but I have never met any of the kids parents. I am only 24, teach full time and until summer I don't have time for a play group but I would love to find one! If you find anything out let me know.
Hi N.,
I would suggest trying meetup.com. I particularly can recommend the following two groups:
sahm.meetup.com/124
sahm.meetup.com/1735
Good luck in your search!

Have you looked into a MOPS (mothers of pre-schoolers) group in your area? They have a website which is mops.org. Good luck!
I would start at your local recreation center. See if there are any activities for toddlers there.
There are several different playgroups, you just have to find on that works for you! I currently have a playgroup, but it is very small, as I am not working on it's growth until after I recover for my pregnancy (I have 6 weeks left then c-section and recovery)! I search through Yahoo! to find groups, but I never found one that suited my daughter and I, so I created my own! Like I said, you just have to search and find one that suits you! Yahoo! is the only place I know of to find any!
Good luck and take care,
C.
I just moved to the area last week and my little girl could use are playground friend too. My husband and I took her to the city park playground today at a time no one was there and it was very sad to watch her play by herself.
My little girl is 3 1/2.
